Environmental Sustainability
 Experience with waste audits acquired while conducting a household waste audit, recording
data in an Excel spreadsheet, interpreting the data, and identifying areas of improvement to
reduce household waste and increase landfill diversion.
 Gathered secondary data relevant to environmental regulations and policy from sources such as
the Forestry Act and Timber Regulations, and organized it in a logical manner in the form of a
briefing note that identified environmental liabilities in the forestry industry.
 Knowledgeable in watershed management in Manitoba through an examination of Lake
Winnipeg’s eutrophication as part of an undergraduate exercise. Attended a watershed
planning initiatives developed by the Manitoba East Interlake Conservation District.
 Understanding of invasive species, their characteristics, and different environmental barriers
and corridors which can hinder or enhance the success of an invasive species, gained through
numerous cases studies of species such as zebra mussels in Lake Winnipeg and wild boar in
Manitoba in multiple biology and environmental science courses at university.

human health, food safety, and wildlife populations, gained through successful completion of an
environmental science concepts course and an issues in environmental science course, each
with a grade of A+.
 Educated in environmental responsibilities derived from the Canadian legal system such as duty
to consult, due diligence, environmental compliance, and environmental management, as well
as the application of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy, through examining
numerous case studies as an undergraduate exercise.
 Knowledge about techniques for building and enhancing sustainable cities such as increasing
density, connectivity, walkability, mixed use, and green building strategies, including LEED
certification, to combat issues related to urban sprawl.

Communication and Public Engagement


 Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills developed through living abroad with host families
as an exchange student in Italy and working as a live-in Au Pair in Spain.
 Conducted research on social vulnerability to floods in Bangladesh, presented my findings in a
written report and PowerPoint presentation, and facilitated an interactive group activity and
class discussion based on course material and my independent research as an undergraduate
exercise.

atmosphere, and be a liaison between management and other team members, acquired
through working cohesively with over 30 hairstylists and estheticians at City Looks Salon & Spa.
