On December 26, 2016, the smell of biscuits wafted through the air as future customers drove by the
new Buttery Biscuit restaurant in South Williamsport. Once Matt Cowden bought the building, they
immediately tore Humdinger down for a fresh start on renovations. Turn Key was the company that built the
Buttery Biscuit. Matt Cowden was not looking for a new restaurant to buy, but he said, “It was too good of a
deal to pass up.”
The Buttery Biscuit seats about 75 people, not including the back
room. The theme of the restaurant’s décor is classic board games. Matt
Cowden’s girlfriend came up with the idea for the décor. It also has a counter
for dining and watching the news. Some other names for the diner could have
been The Three Cs (Conner, Cooper, and Chase, the owner’s sons) or the
Southside Diner, but thanks to Matt Cowden’s girlfriend (again), it was decided to be named The Buttery
Biscuit. Adrian Temple, the manager’s best friend, started working at the restaurant because Matt asked him
to help.
The Buttery Biscuit has many features that range from the game themed décor, to the efficient kitchen,
to a possible walk-up ice cream window. This newly opened restaurant has a high-tech method of submitting
orders. It’s also a great diner to share breakfast or lunch with the ones
you love. So you should stop and try a bite at the Buttery Biscuit.
