1. INTRODUCTION
Southern General Limited (SGL) prides itself to working at the highest quality, within cost
effective means and with special care and attention to health, safety and the environment.
SGL approaches every job with the vision of project success and realization of Client’s
needs. SGL is therefore extremely grateful for this opportunity to provide its services to the
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited (MHI) for the Supply and Installation of a Utility Pole for
CCTV. SGL’s professional approach to construction works encourages diligent, reliable and
dedicated execution. Our Team approach has brought about success to multiple projects
throughout Trinidad and Tobago and will definitely ensure the successful completion of the
works at the proposed access road within Time and budget.
2. SCOPE OF WORKS
The works involved in this scope include manual excavation of a hole, lifting and placing
pole into hole, hand mixing concrete and casting into position.
This job is scheduled to take approximately one (1) working day.
6. STAFF REQUIREMENTS
All necessary employees required for this project would be made available upon and are
highly skilled and experienced in the task they have been asked to perform. Employees
required for this match comprise of but not limited to the following:
1 Project Supervisor
1 Health & Safety Officer
3 Labourer
7. MATERIALS
All material specifications, testing certificates and industry standards shall be met for this
project and will be sourced and available locally and would be inclusive of but not limited
to:
25ft Utility Pole
Concrete
Workmen
Y
9. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Supervisor
Obtaining the permit
Conducting Tool Box Talk based on risk assessment
Arranging for appropriate tools and necessary skilled work force as required.
Ensuring for Housekeeping always at work place
Implementing the control measures as per risk assessment and also as
mentioned in the permit.
Close monitoring till completion of work.
Ensuring quality of work carried out at site
Ensure availability of necessary resources and approved documents.
Ensuring the emergency preparedness.
Ensures the work carried out as per latest approved drawings.
Workmen
Wearing appropriate PPEs.
Understanding and following the instructions given by line staff.
No horseplay and shortcuts.
Inspect tools/ equipment prior use.
Informing the supervisor/foreman about any near misses, injuries and unusual
11.1 METHODOLOGY
i. Ensure all SGL personnel and equipment have all PPE and necessary certification to
meet applicable regulatory or client’s requirements.
ii. Procure material, equipment and power tools with respect to requested specification.
iii. Ensure all Permit to Work requirements are in place before commence of the job task.
iv. Toolbox meeting to be held before job begins.
v. Task Risk Assessment assigned for each job task.
vi. MSDS available for each chemical and review.
vii. Mobilize tools, equipment and materials to client site.
viii. Barricade/ Cordon off work area.
ix. All waste materials to be removed and dump by client requirements.
x. Cleaning up of area during and upon task completion.
Management Notification
If an emergency, or situation that could become an emergency, occurs a MHI representative
would be informed immediately.
Employee Notification
Direct supervisory contact can be used to notify employees of emergency situations in the
compound.
External Notification
The Fire or Police Department, Emergency Medical Service or other emergency-response
units would be contacted if necessary
