While growing up, I had an unusual curiosity to know the basis; cause and effect of how things

worked. This birthed my interest in science and engineering. Looking around I soon realized the
relevance of engineers in technological advancement and without them life would be intolerable.
Recalling back my days in secondary school, I was the undisputed best student in science class and
soon realized that I had exceptional ability to grasp technical concept and demystify complex
problems. I had an inkling from this moment I would be part of a team that can handle arduous
and daunting challenges in Nigeria and globally.

Nigeria has been blessed with scholarly minds since our independence and though a lot has
changed economically and technologically over the last 50 years; the energy sector which was
meant to catalyze the development of all other major sectors has been crawling and the situation
is becoming critical, with increasing population not balanced by an adequate energy development
programme. The incessant power generation failure has grossly affected the economy, seriously
slowing down development in rural and sub-rural settlements. This growing issue stimulated my
desires to the energy sector most especially renewables. With a burning desire to learn more, I
ventured into chemical engineering where I currently hold a Bachelor’s Degree from University
of Ilorin in Nigeria, emerging as one of the top three students. A first-rate performance earned me
a full scholarship from the University’s Senate and Chevron Agbami Oil and Gas multinational.

Education is the way a professional can change an industry by being flexible and able to have a
better understanding of how the industry and market operates. Very important for me is obtaining
first class knowledge and leveraging on the expertise of world leaders and already existing
technologies. My plan during the graduate program is to build my skills in the fundamentals of
Oil and Gas, Electricity markets, Energy creativity, Project management and Environmental
Engineering. Also very important is to develop the leadership practice to tackle real-world
challenges within Energy and Environmental sector. On completion of this programme, I will be
able to influence the strategic direction of businesses and organizations from a holistic and strategy
point of view, and also be able to formulate a worldview that incorporates new imperatives.

Considering the current theme of Energy in the world and the outstanding resources available
globally and in Nigeria; Energy and Environmental Management offers me the combined
discipline specific coursework alongside skills for critical thinking, management and business.
Researching and developing alternative energy resources, designing and building sustainable
ecosystems, Energy transition and global warming are major challenges facing the world. I hope
to be a real player to springboard solutions and opportunities

I am confident that with my experience in the oil and gas servicing, passion for global and
community developments, leadership potential and a career path in Energy and Environmental
Management, I would have 360 degree view of the Energy and Environmental sector from the
consumer, producer, regulator and user perspective, offering more prospects to derive the
maximum realization of the sector. I guarantee you however, that I am physically and mentally
prepared to meet the demands through diligence, shear commitment to work and relentless efforts
as I have displayed in time past.

Your organization has a track record of awarding scholarships to promising young students from
Nigeria in order to bring knowledge, skills and leadership abilities to our dear country. I will
contribute immensely to technological advancement upon my return to Nigeria as this scholarship
offers me a huge step in realizing my potentials and dreams.
