Executive Summary

This report is evaluated on the publics’ view of the concept of social enterprises in Singapore.
According to a 2015 publication, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) highlighted
that the publics were still confusing with the concept of social enterprise. The purpose of this report
is to determine the point of views of the public towards the concept of social enterprise and to
recommend actions to improve the education on social enterprise to the public. Therefore, we
surveyed 30 people in Sembawang Residential Area who are between 20 to 65 years old to obtain
their view on social enterprise in Singapore. We surveyed on demographic details, knowledge of
social enterprise, willingness to pay more for the services and products. Although most of our
survey respondents were satisfied with the services, this may be because only 30 people in SIM
are asked to do the questionnaires. This does not represent the opinion of the entire public in
Singapore. Furthermore, although there are only 30 people did the survey, there are already some
dissatisfactions. So, in order to improve the education of social enterprises to the public, we
recommend that SPRING Singapore should create an employee rewards programme. With reward
programme, staffs will be more motivated to perform better at their given tasks. Besides that, the
company can also provide training programmes to constantly improve their staffs. They can use
the knowledge attained in the programme to be more productive, reliable and perform better in
their tasks after attending the programme. Lastly, by getting feedback from customers. That way
we can not only discover touchpoints and skills that need improvement, but also can make sure
that the products or services providing are what the customers need and wants.
