An internship helps a student to sample real-life work settings, and use them
as laboratory opportunities to apply knowledge gained throughout the
program.
An internship helps a student to learn new skills as well as to hone existing
ones, particularly those related to time-management, interpersonal skills,
organizational skills, communication skills, etc.
An internship helps a student to transition from a nurtured state to one in
which they should have greater control.
An internship allows a student to prove her/himself.
An internship exposes a student to a professional network.
Students will complete your internship under the supervision of an assigned faculty
member (internship supervisor). The internship supervisor will be assessing
assigned students’ effort, performance and success, based on meetings with the
student and a report that the student will have to submit. To enrich the student’s
internship experience, the internship supervisor will be helping you in many ways
such as
Internship deliverables
Report
Report must cover the following:
A brief overview of the organization, the department and the
people.
Student’s assignment and contribution to the organization.
What lessons a student has learned from her/his internship
experience.
A student’s interaction with her/his employment supervisor(s)
and coworkers.
How the student has dealt with any difficulties encountered.
Differences between the student’s expectations and experience.
How this internship has influenced the student’s career plans.
If the student had to redo this internship, what would they do
differently?
Weekly Journal
o Students will need to maintain a journal: a file of weekly notes on
her/his internship experience. Every weekend, a student should
email that week’s notes to the assigned faculty. Notes should
include:
Work done
Learning and Achievement
Observations / reflections
Notable incidents
Link to academic knowledge (optional)
o This journal should be included in the final report as an appendix.
Students are required to submit the report within the semester in which the
students have started the internship. If a student is unable to do so, the student
may request the instructor for an incomplete. However, in that case the student
must submit the report in the next semester, failing to do so will result in an “F”
grade.
Evaluation criteria

A Timely submission of quality weekly journals (10 – 12 10%
journals over the duration of a semester)1

original survey to CPC and bring a copy to the internship
