Motivation Letter

Dear, Prof. Hirai Takayuki,

I am Putu Septian Eka Adistha Putra. I obtained my master degree from Department of
Chemistry, Inorganics and Material Chemistry major, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), with
GPA 3.40 of 4.00. I worked on crystal growth of Non-Linear Optical materials under
supervision of Dr. Bambang Prijamboedi. I am interested to join your doctoral program as
informed by Osaka University official web page (http://www.dma.jim.osaka-
u.ac.jp/view?l=en&u=5803).

The decision to apply this program was influenced by my background and interest. My
past laboratory experience in crystal growth of organic crystal under electric field effect has
already challenge me to improve my knowledge and to gain new experiences in research related
to Synthesis of ordered carbonaceous frameworks from organic crystals. This program and the
field really caught me. I can see that this program will provide me a broader insight of the
synthesis method of carbonaceous frameworks from organic crystals. With this program, I know
I will gain my knowledge at the forefront of discovery. I believe that this program will enrich my
knowledge and help me in prospective career as a scientist and lecturer. In order to fulfill my
career ambitions, I am willing to advance my study in development of Synthesis of ordered
carbonaceous frameworks from organic crystals under electric field effect. I have high
expectation to gain laboratory research work experience at higher level. All these strong positive
points allow me to be more confident and choose this program in order to pursue my dreams and
ambitions.

The main reason for the growing interest in synthesis of ordered carbonaceous
frameworks from organic crystals lies in its advantageous properties (electrical conductivity,
chemical and thermal stability, light weight). Hence, they are used in a variety of applications
including adsorbents, catalysts, supercapacitors, and polymer-electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs).
Furthermore, the improvements in synthesis method of carbonaceous frameworks already leads
to alternative way for synthesizing ordered kinds of carbonaceous frameworks. Therefore, I am
very curious and interest in developing method that can extend new methodology in ordered
carbonaceous frameworks of organic crystal synthesis, still based on my background thesis.
Based on my experience in crystal growth of non-linear optical crystal, I hope that one day I
would discover something important that gives positive impact to the development of highly
ordered carbonaceous frameworks of organic crystal and give active contribution in science and
technology. I believe this program can help me to actualize my future plans.

I am confident I will bring a lot energy and enthusiasm to your program and guidance. I
believe that my strong points such as self-confidence, work hard, responsible, good
communication skill, and high self-motivated attitude will benefit me and fellow students during
the program. If you would be so kind as to provide me with the wonderful opportunity to join
your program, I would be eager to provide any other document to meet the necessary
requirements.

Sincerely yours,

Putu Septian Eka Adistha Putra
