• Contribute as a member of the leadership team in a dynamic, high-acuity, evidence-based driven intensive care
unit
• Teach a variety of classes for clinical staff on concepts such as temporary pacemaker management, invasive
hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative management of cardiothoracic surgery patients; maintain clinical
expertise on these topics and act as a resource to staff
• Identify opportunities for QI and outcome-based improvement projects; mentor and work with clinical staff to
develop and implement solutions, such as creation of a unit based preceptor council,
• Maintain clinical expertise in the peri-operative care of complex, acutely ill cardiothoracic and vascular patients
• Leading a cardiothoracic surgery department-wide project to address patient satisfaction and experience scores
related to their surgical admission, via creation and implementation of a pre-operative tour and information

• Created a proposed structure for bundled-care provision to CABG patients; highlighted the role of the APRN
for the provision of consistent, evidence based patient education and care, and the significant impact this
approach would have on readmission rates and post-operative complications
