a) How can I use specific details in a text to retell and describe specific events, settings, and
characters?

Pick a character from the story.
Compose a page from their
personal journal explaining the
setting and an event from the
story.
Compose a poem or song with
rhythm that explains the feelings
of the main character throughout
a major event. Put yourself in
their shoes to create the song or
poem.
Research and pick any place on
earth the main character would
rather be when the major event
happened. Print and draw
pictures of this new place.
Theorize why you think this
character would pick this new
location.
Design a video news report on a
specific event from the story
with a small group. Use details
from the text to support your
report.
You are the psychologist and
your partner is a character from
the story. Compose an interview
to present in front of class that
will show how the character was
feeling and why.
Outline a new ending to the
story that would please the
antagonist.
You are a mime and you have
read this story. As a mime, retell
a scene from the story that
displays feelings of one
character in the book.
Plan a problem that the class
needs to solve. Pick a character
from the story. Construct a new
scenario with that character.
Have the class try to explain
why and how this character will
solve the problem.
Present a collage or a video with
a partner of quotes from the text
that explains the main characters
personality.
