Cost or Economics

Economics is one of the factors considered in determining which design alternative will be used
in the project. Cost control is critical and the budget for an important project should not be
underestimated. Monitoring and controlling the cost for the project from time-to-time must be made to
ensure that they are aligned with the budget without sacrificing the quality of the project. Before each
design alternative is rated based on the cost or economic criteria, expenditure for the construction are
estimated. The possible construction price of the alternatives was based on the existing housing project
of the National Housing Authority. Based on the comparison, the more cost-efficient alternative was
determined.

Aesthetics

Nowadays, the trend of most buildings or structures being constructed to be aesthetically

beautiful or has been consulted with an architect. In this trend, the aesthetic criteria for the design
alternative of the project has also been considered. Aesthetics can be an important link between
technology development, design and architecture. Thus in this criteria, it is a connecting factor between
modern design and technology of the design alternative.

Structural Integrity

Structural engineering encompasses the building of large structures or pieces of equipment, and
structural integrity largely refers to those objects' soundness of design and construction, including safety
and workability. Structural integrity is the characteristic of a building or structure to withstand
catastrophes and how they can withstand up to the highest standards. This is the most important criteria
for the alternative design because structures with a high level of structural integrity helds up to the
standard of safety and function that will benefit the community.

Foundation Plan

The foundation plan is a plan view drawing, in section, showing the location and size of footings,
piers, columns, foundation walls, and supporting beams. The foundation plan is drawn from information
presented on the floor plan, plot plan, and elevation plan drawings. The plot plan and elevation plan
drawings should also be examined to anticipate the need for stepped footings, retaining walls, and
problems related to the grade of the land.

Floor Framing Plan

The Floor Framing Plans provide structural information such as the joist location, spacing and
direction, as well as the floor heights and stair openings. There is also typically numerous call-outs (notes)
that indicate the type of floor trusses that are needed as well as information of truss supports and support
locations. All Floor Framing Plans are for design purposes only and will require review by an engineer
and/or truss designer to ensure conformity to local site conditions and allowance for given structural loads
based on your climate and roofing materials selected.

Riser Diagram

A diagram (two-dimensional, in a vertical plane) which shows the major items of electrical
equipment in a building; displays, floor by floor, the feeders and major items of equipment.

Lighting Layout

An electrical plan that shows the flow of house lightings.
