9:40-9:50 routine with a warm up and it will be two laps
around the basketball court and then dynamic
stretches like quad pulls, hamstring pulls, skipping,
jumping, shuffling, karaoke and arm stretching.
Demonstration: I will be demonstrating the warm
up as we are going through it the first time so that
the students are aware of what is expected of
them as the weeks go on.

Transition: I will call them over row by row back to

the meeting spot so that we can go over informing
in soccer starting with the dribble.

Informing: Speedball is the game we have been

working towards the whole time. We are going to
X T X
9:50-10:00 be learning the rules and seeing how it connects to
S S S S S S S S
both soccer and handball that we have been
S S S S S S S
playing the past moth. First we must review
S S S S S S S S
throwing and catching in handball and dribbling X X
and kicking in soccer.

Rules - Go Signal: Ready, Go or music. Stop Signal:

music stop
Boundaries - stay within the gym throughout the
lesson.
Safety - Make sure to keep your head and eyes up
being aware of your surroundings as well as the
people and balls around you.

10:00-10:10 Activity 1: Passing with a partner X T X

Students will be picking a partner and they will be S S S S S S S
working on passing. They will be starting closer S S S S S S S
together and as they are successful and I can see X X
that they are successful I will allow them to back
up. When going over passing I also need to make
sure that I am talking about receiving the ball as
well. They will be half the time passing with their
feet and the other half with their hands,
Demonstration: I will be asking a student to help
me demonstrate what the pass should look like.
Extensions Up: Increase the distance between the
passer and receiver.
Extensions Down: Allow the student to pass
against one of the curtains so that they are able to
be more accurate.
Safety: Make sure your partner is aware that you
are passing to them and make sure you let any
other groups know if your ball is going to interfere
with any groups near you.
Transition: Students will bring their balls into the
middle and I will be describing the next activity
which is the relay race.

10:10-10:20 Activity 2: Keep Away X T X

Students will be in groups of 4/5 people and they S S S S S
will be working on passing the ball both in the air S S S S S
and on the ground. Each group will pick one X S S S S S X
student to start as it and their job is to win
possession of the ball from their teammates. That
does not mean that if the ball hits the floor the
game is over, instead they must have full control
of the ball to consider it stolen. They can add in a
second defender once it gets good and score
points by counting how many passes they are able
to make between themselves without the ball
being stolen by the defense.
Demonstration: I will ask a few students to do a
walkthrough of the activity to make sure that all of
the students understand what is going on and how
they are to be playing this game.
Extension UP: Increase the amount of passes that
the teams on offense need in order to get a point
and make the kick across the area.
Extension DOWN: Allow a third defender into the
box to try to intercept the ball and gain their team
position to kick the ball.
Check for Understanding: How many passes do we
need before we send it to the other side? How
many defenders are there?
Safety: Making sure that you are aware of your
surroundings and the people around you.
Knowing that you are going to want to get the
skills right not so much focused on the speed.
10:20-10:35 Activity 3: Modified Game Play X T X
We will be playing a modified version of speedball. S S S S S
There will be no scoring but we will combine S S S S S
groups and basically have them play keep away X S S S S S X
from each other and see who can maintain
possession of the ball for a longer period of time
without a turnover. This will be a bit different
than handball and soccer so they might need a few
minutes to get comfortable with the new rules, as
well as ample reminders of the rules throughout
the game times.
Safety: Make sure we are in our own personal
space as well as general space.

Conclusion: We will go back over what we have

10:35-10:40 learned with the rules of speedball and different
rules that we will be utilizing over the next few
weeks as we get into more game play. Exit slip will
be completed checking to make sure that all
students understand what we will be incorporating
into our game play.

Thanks for your participation boys and girls! See

you next week!
