What?: Skidpan Fun event with LROC.
When?: 25 September.
Where?: Zwartkop Raceway, Pretoria West.
How Much?: Free to spectators - this is a spectator event.
How Many Spectators?: There will be space for about 60 spectators.
Who May Spectate?: Anyone, you, your friends, your family...
How Much if I want to Drive!: The cost will be R400.00 per

driver/vehicle.
Who May Drive?: Any paid-up member of the 4x4AG. But you must be
one of the first 20 to pay.
How do I pay: You pay the 4x4AG Account.
What Reference should I use?: You MUST use your Forum Name + SPE
(Skid Pan Event)
If the reference is wrong we will not allocate your payment
Plan: Arrive by 08:00

In short we will set up a couple of courses around plastic cones. Skidpan
will be divided in 2, with mirror images of the course on each side. 2
vehicles set off against the clock, 1 from each club. Each club member will
do both sides of the mirror, then we set up another course. Only road
going 4x4's will be allowed, and not race prepared specials. Its loads
of fun.
Commercial Display: Commercial Companies may set up a display.

There will be a 'stall fee' for displaying of R500.00.
Volunteers: We need 6 volunteers to help with time-keeping &

marshaling.
No alcohol allowed for all participants and marshals.

Every participant must sign the indemnity
Only participant’s vehicles allowed within the fenced-off area of the
skidpan
If you are spectating - please let us know so we can add your name to
the list.

1. EVENT FORMAT
The event will be based on a friendly and fun competition between the
LROC and the 4x4 Action Group. This is your chance to experience how
your 4x4 behaves on a very slippery surface in a controlled and safe
environment.
Participants from both clubs will drive a couple of different courses

around traffic cones on the skidpan. The skidpan will be divided along
the centre into 2 sections, and mirror images of a particular course will
be set on the two sides. Two participants (1 from each club) will be set
off and will complete the course against time. When completed the
course, they need to stop and their times recorded by the timekeepers.
They will then cross over to the other side and complete the mirror
image course. Times will be recorded again.
Once all participants have completed a particular course, a new course

layout will be set up and times will be recorded as per the first course.
Three or four different courses will be set up as time permits.
After the three or four courses have been completed by all participants,
scoring will be done to determine the winning club and best drivers. The
winners and winning club will be based on least accumulated time of all
courses completed. If a driver’s car breaks or he does not complete a
track or tracks, he/she will get the slowest time for that/those tracks.
Participants are allowed to share a vehicle, and each driver will get
his/her own “Indemnity number” for scoring purposes.
The prize giving will happen after the scoring has been completed;
Afterward we will socialize around the braai fires.
Lady members/spouses of both clubs are encouraged to participate as

well, as we plan to have prizes for the best drivers of both clubs, and for
the best female drivers.

Miems, you can take a co-driver/navigator along... If fact, its strongly

recommended as the driver gets very focused on driving, and forgets
about navigation, and suddenly all the cones look the same and you
don't know where to go next.
The courses will be set up in such a way there wont be any high speed,
I doubt that you will use any gear higher than 2nd gear. And what I
have seen on the skidpan before, slower is often faster :-)

Dont feel intimidated... We have 2 lady drivers on the LROC side already.
You wont fall over, promise... And it the ideal oppertunity to feel how

you will go in to the skids a Rambo and have an eye opening experience
if you have not done it before. It is great fun and might just be the bit of
experience that saves your but one day. Unfortunately my boys and I

A few points for Sunday;
No entrance cost for participants and spectators. Tell the guys at the
entrance gate you are going to the skidpan.
Boerie rolls and cooldrinks will be sold.
Bring your own chairs.
Bring braaivleis for the braai after the prizegiving.
Spectators please park outside the skidpan fenced-off area.
Participants not allowed to consume alcohol, keep that for the braai
afterwards.

IMPORTANT POINTS:
I. Plan to arrive at the main gate between 08:00 & 08:30. No later.
II. Drive in, it's FREE & drive all the way, keeping left, to the Skid Pan.
It's basically the last venue.
III Crowd control is key.

ONLY competitors vehicles will be allowed through the gate.
The rest park at the top & walk down.
IV. We MUST be locked up & Gone by 15:59, Leave later & you pay to
exit.
V. As Gympee says, timing is crucial. Obey the marshals - they will be

wearing bright yellow Marshall vests.
VI. Remember refreshments & sun protection.

Bring a Gazebo if you have one.
VII. Drivers Briefing will be before 10:00...

You guys planed a lekker day. We had so much fun we almost run out of
time.
Also showed us that our big 4x4's can handle a little side ways action.
Was a awesome group of guys on the day, the Landy club gave us some
stick hahaha but it was really all out of good fun and that Rangie ...Ooh
that was nice and that sounds never gets old.
Well done to all the guys that planed this and the crew for keeping us all
in line. Thank you all.

4x4AG Skid Pan Event - 25 September 2016

What?: Skidpan Fun event with LROC.

Where?: Zwartkop Raceway, Pretoria West.

How Much?: Free to spectators - this is a spectator event.

How Many Spectators?: There will be space for about 60 spectators.

Who May Spectate?: Anyone, you, your friends, your family...

How Much if I want to Drive!: The cost will be R400.00 per

How do I pay: You pay the 4x4AG Account.

Plan: Arrive by 08:00

Commercial Display: Commercial Companies may set up a display.

Volunteers: We need 6 volunteers to help with time-keeping &

No alcohol allowed for all participants and marshals.

Afterward we will socialize around the braai fires.
