COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce you to the field of mechanical engineering and the relationships between
physics, mathematics, communications, and sciences which inform the study, design, and
manufacture of mechanical products and systems.
Key topic areas are: Scope of Mechanical Engineering, Study of sources of energy: conventional and
renewable, environmental pollution; Study of steam generation units with their accessories and
mountings; Introduction to steam turbine with their accessories, Internal combustion engines and gas
turbines with their accessories, Automobiles; Fluid Machinery, Refrigeration and air–conditioning
systems, Introduction to machine elements and electro-mechanical systems.
