4.0 FINDING AND DISCUSSION
According to our last internship program at NZ Automation Sdn. Bhd, there were some
issues that we identify. The issue was appliance of safety in workplace, such as Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE). Basically, there was no person that responsible for the safety of
their employees. This is due to lack of safety awareness among the employees. In fact, the
supervisor also does not take it seriously. Even there was an accident occurs, there was no
action taken from the management. In addition, the personal protective equipment also was
insufficient. Sometimes, the employees scramble each other to get the safety equipment such
as goggle.

Based on the problem we identify from our internship program, there are some
solutions that we can do to prevent the problem being worst. Firstly, we have to make a report
to the responsible authorities they have to monitor the work place at the reported area so that
the management will have more awareness on safety in work place.

Next, the personal protective equipment that need to provide are;

1) Eye and Face Protection

Suitable eye protectors must be provided where there is a potential for injury to the eyes or
face from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical
gases or vapors, potentially injurious light radiation, or a combination of these. Every protector
shall be distinctly marked to facilitate identification of the manufacturer and must meet the
following minimum requirements:

 Provide adequate protection against the particular hazards for which they are designed

 Be reasonably comfortable when worn under the designated conditions

 Fit snugly without interfering with the movements or vision of the wearer

 Be durable

 Be capable of being disinfected

 Be easily cleanable

 Be kept clean and in good repair

8
2) Ear Protection

Exposure to high noise levels can cause hearing loss or impairment. It can create physical
and psychological stress. There is no cure for noise-induced hearing loss, so the prevention of
excessive noise exposure is the only way to avoid hearing damage. Specifically designed
protection is required, depending on the type of noise encountered and the auditory condition
of employee.

Disposable earplugs should be used once and thrown away; non-disposable ones should be
cleaned after each use for proper maintenance. Earmuffs need to make a perfect seal around
the ear to be effective. Glasses, long sideburns, long hair, and facial movements, such as
chewing, can reduce protection. Special equipment is available for use with glasses or beards.

3) Arm and Hand Protection

Burns, cuts, electrical shock, amputation and absorption of chemicals are examples of
hazards associated with arm and hand injuries. A wide assortment of gloves, hand pads,
sleeves, and wristlets for protection from these hazards is available. The devices should be
selected to fit the specific task. Rubber is considered one of the best materials for insulating
gloves and sleeves and must conform to ANSI standards (copies available from ANSI, 1430
Broadway, New York, NY 10018). Other glove and clothing materials such as latex, nitrile, butyl
rubber, neoprene, etc. are available. Each material is thoroughly tested and rated against
specific chemical compounds. You need to know what hazard you are protecting against to
choose the correct material.

4) Torso Protection

Many hazards can threaten the torso: heat, splashes from hot metals and liquids, impacts,
cuts, acids, and radiation. A variety of protective clothing is available, including vests, jackets,
aprons, coveralls, and full body suits. Fire retardant wool and specially treated cotton clothing
items are comfortable, and they adapt well to a variety of workplace temperatures. Other types
of protection include leather, rubberized fabrics, and disposable suits such as those made from
tyvek.

5.0 CONCLUSION
By reading the case study of the business of the NZ Automation, we could learn and
obtain a better understanding on the structural of the company itself. Besides that, we could
also understand and grasp completely the method used by the company to approach and deal
of the customer. The NZ Automation Company is a small to medium type of company
specialized in machining and custom made machine. Within this case study, there are several
improvements and countermeasures stated by us that shall allow to boost and the NZ
Automation Company towards their own improvement and solution to their problem. All the
method and countermeasures stated are made through some research on the internet and by
the guidance of our lecturer herself. Thus, the sources of the problem solving solution are
reliable and trusted. Throughout this case study also, we stated the problems faced by the NZ
Automation Company. The problems stated here generally presenting the similar problems
faced by the other production industries. Thus, through this approach other production
industries will be able to solve their company’s problems. We surely hope that our case study
here will be able to shows and slightly exposed others regarding the difficulties, problems faced
by the printing and design and the solutions or the countermeasures of the problem faced by
the company that offering the same type of services.

10
6.0 RECOMMENDATION AND IMPROVEMENT

1. Lack of promotion

Sometimes, simply publishing great content just is not enough. The example of publishing
social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram offering a range of increasingly
sophisticated ways to segment audiences and reach the right people and right price. This social
media not enough to do the promotion. So, we need other way to improve this business
promotion. We must dictate the best social media advertising strategy for our business. We
must focus to our budget, target market demographics, typical social media consumption
habits of your audience, device compatibility of content and desired business outcomes. We
must promote content on social media with paid promotion. In the meantime, it may cost a lot
but it will get a lot of profit from just doing simple promotions.

2. Lack of staff

For small companies, the lack of staff is due to the low profits of the company to pay
employees' wages. Therefore, to overcome this problem, the company must find and reaching
the partnership to increase the monthly income of company. Other advantage of partnership is
the owner receives all profits, easier to start up and lower cost because there are no required
filing fees and the owner pays only personal income taxes on the profits. Another step to
overcome this problem is attracting more investors to invest with SNJ Printing & Design.
Through these countermeasures, the SNJ Printing & Design will obtain higher amount of budget
that shall allow them to hire more workers.

3. Do not have any connection with potential customer

By visiting the other newly built factory or company, SNJ Printing & Design need to approach
them directly or through the internet that is via email. Other than that, by allowing formal visit
from any educational institution. This will lead to the promotion of the company to an
organization within the educational institution.

11
4. Safety awareness among employee

Based on the problem we identify from our internship program, there are some solutions
that we can do to prevent the problem being worst. Firstly, we have to make a report to the
responsible authorities they have to monitor the work place at the reported area so that the
management will have more awareness on safety in work place.
