There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English.

Gauge: 8 sts on larger needles in Pattern = 10 cm in width.

14 sts on larger needles in garter st = 10 cm in width

Pattern:
Row 1 (right side): knit.
Row 2 (wrong side): knit.
Row 3: * K 1, 2 yo *, repeat from * - *, K 1.
Row 4: K, letting all yos from previous row drop (= long st).
Repeat rows 1-4.

Measuring-tips: On account of the pattern make all length measurements when the piece is held up. Otherwise the garment
will be too long when worn.

Tip: The numbers for the long model come before the
( ) and the numbers for the short model are inside the ( ). If only one set of numbers is given, it is for both long and short
models.

Front: Loosely cast on 61-69-75-83-89 sts on larger needles and knit 4 rows garter st, decreasing 24-28-30-34-36 sts
evenly distributed on the last row (do not dec over the 4 outermost sts at each side) = 37-41-45-49-53 sts. Then put 4 sts
at each side on a st holder (these sts are for the side split edge) = 29-33-37-41-45 sts remain. Knit pattern – see
instructions above.
When the piece measures 20 (8) cm cast on 3 new sts at each side = 35-39-43-47-51 sts. Continue with pattern over all
sts.
When the piece measures 63-64-65-66-67 (31-32-33-34-35) cm bind off 3-4-6-7-9 sts at each side for armhole = 29-31-
31-33-33 sts.
When the piece measures 72-74-76-78-80 (40-42-44-46-48) cm put the center 7-7-7-9-9 sts on a st holder for the neck.
Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 7-8-8-8-8 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off
when the piece measures 82-84-86-88-90 (50-52-54-56-58) cm.

Back: Loosely cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 80-82-84-
86-88 (48-50-52-54-56) bind off the center 13-13-13-15-15 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge =
7-8-8-8-8 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 82-84-86-88-90 (50-52-54-56-58) cm.

Sleeve: Loosely cast on 30-31-32-33-34 sts on larger needles and knit 4 rows garter st, decreasing 12 sts evenly
distributed on the last row = 18-19-20-21-22 sts. Knit pattern.
When the piece measures 12 cm inc 1 st at each side every 8-7-6-5-5 cm a total of 5-5-6-6-6 times = 28-29-32-33-34 sts.
Knit the increased sts in the pattern as you go along.
When sleeve measures 46-45-44-42-41 cm put a marker at each side (markers indicate where sleeve seams will be sewn).
When the piece measures 50-50-51-51-52 cm bind off 5 sts at each side every other row 2 times. Bind off the remaining
sts, the piece measures approx. 54-54-55-55-56 cm.

Assembly:
Side split: Put the 4 sts from st holder onto smaller needles and knit garter st for 20 (8) cm = length of side split. Bind off.
Sew to edge of front. Repeat on the other side of front and at each side of back.
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: Pick up approx. 80-90 sts (incl. sts on st holder) around the neck on smaller short circular needles. Join and P 1
row, K 1 row and P 1 row, then K and bind off the next row.
Sew sleeve seams up to the marker, taking care that the seam is not too tight. Sew side seams above the garter st edges.
Sew in sleeves.
