1 INTRODUCTION
Viditech 2000CV is an eight-channel digital instrument for measuring and evaluating
vibration, temperature and condition of rotating machines bearing.

1.1 Basic advantages of the instrument

FFT analysis – detail analysis containing ca. 1000 spectral lines
New firmware – easy update performed by customer
All functions in instrument – complete evaluating unit
1.2 Number of measuring channels
 2x vibration (in each channel ISO 1 Hz – 1 kHz)
 2x bearing condition (in each channel 500 Hz – 15 kHz)
 4x temperature (3-conductor PT 100)
Each channel contains a limit L1 (warning) and L2 (danger).
For vibration measuring accelerometers with ICP supply are used.
 3x logical input (SPD – revolution, TM – Trip Multiply and TRG – synchronizing input
(currently not supported))
1.3 Current outputs and relays
The instrument communicates with the superior system through 6 current outputs
(4-20) mA.
 2x vibration (A, B)
 2x temperature (A, B)
 2x universal (temperature (C, D) or condition of bearing (A, B))

These relays ensure complete protection of the diagnosed machine

 OK relay (ensuring a trouble-free state of the instrument)
 L1 relay (user defined warning of a raised value)
 L2 relay (user defined warning of a high value)
Vibration channels (A, B) have their own buffered outputs on the BNC connectors.
1.4 Communication interface
 ModBus RTU (version 2500CV/3000CV) / ModBus over Ethernet (2000CV/E / 3000CV/E)
The communication interface ensures connection to the Ethernet, through which it is possible
to monitor and control the instrument. It is possible to choose between ModBus RTU
(through RS485) and ModBus over Ethernet (connectable using standard RJ-45 connector).

1.5 Instrument attachment dispositions

 Small size – it is also possible to place the instrument into a separate (industry) box
 Mounting – easy assembly using a DIN moulding.

3 INITIATION OF THE INSTRUMENT TO OPERATIONAL STATE

3.1 Initialization
After turning on the power supply the instrument automatically initializes, this consists of
stabilization of filters and initiation of the internal test (Selftest see 5.4). The process is
identical to the device reboot(see 3.3).

3.2 Main screen

Main screen displays a preview of the effective values of the vibration channels (A, B), see fig.
5. These values are stated numerically. A bar graph is used to display ranges, also includes set
limits (L1 – warning, L2 – danger). Next to the bar graph a percentage range to limit L2 is
displayed. In case of unconnected vibration input, “sensor error“ is displayed at the
respective channel. The same warning notification is displayed, if the connected sensor is
damaged. Main screen also includes two temperatures (A, B). If no temperature sensors (PT
100) are connected to these channels, N/A is displayed.

Fig. 5 Main screen of the instrument after initialization into operating condition.

3.3 Instrument restart
Restart of the instrument is possible by simultaneously pressing buttons ESC and for at
least 2 s. Afterwards the following are displayed: name of the instrument and instrument FW
version and hardware version. After these system data are presented, the filters are
stabilizing, selftest and the Main screen is displayed (fig. 6). Upon selftest completion there
will be displayed result for about 10seconds.

Fig. 6 Preview of the screen during restart.

4 STARTING MENU
Arrow buttons are used to browse the starting menu, which contains 5 screens in total
(main screen, exceeded limits, temperatures, information about the diagnosed machine and
infoemation about instrument), see fig. 7.

Fig. 7 Starting menu of the instrument (limits, temperatures).

4.1 Limits
By using the arrow button , information about whether the set limits L1 or L2 of the
measured parameters have been exceeded for all channels of the instrument (fig. 7). Among
measured parameters belong the velocity of vibrations, conditions of the bearing and
temperature (temperature is possible to measure by up to 4 channels). If any measured
parameter exceeds the set limit, instead of the dash – an exceeded limit (L1, L2) is displayed.

www.viditech.eu sales@viditech.cz 8
VIDITECH 2500CV/3000CV
4.1 Temperatures
By pressing again, temperatures in all channels (A, B, C, D) are displayed. N/A is displayed
if any channel has no temperature sensor connected. On the first line of the menu the internal
temperature of the instrument is displayed, see fig. 7.

4.2 Machine information

The last item of the starting menu is the information about the state of the diagnosed machine
node, where the following specifications in order are presented, see fig. 8:
 Speed (signal from the revolution sensor at the logical input of the instrument). If the
speed sensor is not connected, or the speed is zero, appears on the display 0 rpm.
We strongly recommend using three-wire speed sensors based on eddy current
principle. Using of different speed sensor (e.g. inductive) – please consult with
manufacturer.
 Bearing condition (BC): here the current state of the diagnosed machine is displayed in the
parameter bearing condition (BC) describing the rate of Average value (Avg) to Reference
value (Ref). The average value is obtained from a 16 minute section with a period of
analysis every 4 minutes. After turning on the instrument a recording of the average value
is being saved for 8 hours. Consequently is this value saved and is changed only when the
new Reference value (8 hours) decreases by more than 10 % compared to the original.
These parameters are obtained only if Machine on YES is indicated.

Fig. 8 Information about the diagnosed machine.

4.3 Instrument information

 Machine on: YES/NO giving actual information, if the machine is running or stoped. This
inforamtion is dependent on the set treshold, machine runtime is dependent as well.
 Recorder: indicates whether the recorder is enabled
 Machine runtime: period during which input signal is above treshold set for this
option(device settings)

Fig. 9 Information about the instrument.

5 NESTED MENU
The nested menu can be triggered by the button and left by the button. This menu
includes the following options (Analysis, Trends, Postmort data, Selftest, Logger and Setup),
see fig. 10:

www.viditech.eu sales@viditech.cz 9

Fig. 10 Preview of the nested menu options.

5.1 Analysis

5.1.1 Velocity of vibration analysis

Using this option an analysis of the velocity of vibrations in the frequency domain 1 Hz – 1
kHz can be obtained. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) containing ca. 1 000 frequency lines is
used for the calculation. For analysis of each channel the following are available:
window function – rectangular / Hann
number of spectrum averaging (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x)
After the analysis 20 highest lines ranged by maximal amplitude are displayed. Button
shows the sum (Summ) of the 20 highest lines and the sum of the whole spectrum (Total),
see fig. 11. It is necessary to remark, that the highest lines (tips), mentioned in the
enumeration are determined by three neighbouring lines, whereas the line which has two
surrounding lines at least by 30 % lower, is determined as the tip. The size of the tip is
then determined as the square root of sum of squares of these three lines. Browsing
through the highest values is done by .

Fig. 11 Sample list of frequency lines and the sum of spectrums.

5.1.2 Vibration acceleration analysis

Analysis of acceleration is pursued in the range 500 Hz – 15 kHz and the progress is
analogous to the velocity of vibrations analysis. Again a selection is possible, from which
channel the analysis will be performed, what type of window function and the final
averaging. The summary is displayed in the same way as in the velocity of vibrations
analysis.

5.1.1 Bearing condition

As already mentioned in chapter 4.2 Machine information, the bearing condition is read
every 4 minutes. In addition the current state may be displayed after request of service.
After selecting this item for the relevant channel, the following are displayed:
Actual – effective value of acceleration calculation
Reference – reference value
BC – final parameter
!!! WARNING !!! – here the calculation of BC differs from calculation for Limits/Machine
information. In this case BC is calculated as the rate of Actual value to Reference value (BC =
Actual / Ref), see fig. 12.

www.viditech.eu sales@viditech.cz 10
VIDITECH 2500CV/3000CV

Fig. 12 Sample analysis of the Bearing condition.

5.2 Trends
Trends contain long-term records of parameters vibration velocity, vibration acceleration
and temperature, divided into three time intervals, see fig. 13:

Fig. 13 Scheme of trend creation.

5.2.1 First time interval

The basic time interval, which is averaged for trend calculation, is 16 minutes. This
enumeration is displayed graphically in the form of 30 lines of basic time intervals. On the
display the time interval is shown in two steps (0 min – 224 min) and after pressing
(240 min – 464 min). During enumeration of the trend there is a change on the display in
the bottom line between time range and maximal/minimum value of the given record, see
fig. 13.

Fig. 13 Preview of the vibration velocity trend of the first interval.

5.2.2 Second time interval

The second time interval is displayed after another press of the button. The display is
analogous to the previous case. Every line of this interval is calculated as a sum from the
first interval. The total range is again divided into two screens (0 hour – 112 hours and 120
hours – 232 hours).

5.2.3 Third time interval

The third time interval is solved as the previous. Every line is calculated as a sum of the
previous interval. The total range is again divided into two screens (0 days – 140 days and
150 days – 290 days).

www.viditech.eu sales@viditech.cz 11
VIDITECH 2500CV/3000CV
5.2.4 Probability of exceeding the L2 limit
Calculation of probability estimation of exceeding the set limit L2, serves the operator by
better orientation with machine cut off planning or the machine maintenance. This
parameter helps avoiding big damages during repairs.
The probability is calculated from the highest trend range (300 days) and is displayed
after pressing (after entering the trend of a respective parameter). The estimated time
until exceeding limit L2 and probability estimation accuracy of time (HIGH/ LOW) is
displayed on the screen. In case a short record for the calculation of the estimation is read,
N/A is displayed.
This parameter is calculated for vibration velocity trend, and is only approximate!!!

Fig. 15 Exceeding limit L2 estimation preview.

5.3 Postmortem data

This type of saved data is formed as a circular recorder with a length over 68 minutes. In the
moment of exceeding the L2 limit (when the machine is turned off) the recording continues
for another 30 s, see fig. 16. Besides information about exceeding limits, the Postmort
recorder is an important tool when searching for links about the machine drop-out.

!!! After turning off or restarting the instrument, the Postmort record is deleted !!!

Fig. 16 Postmort recorder preview.

5.4 Selftest
During each start of the instrument a selftest proceeds. It contains following:
1) Test of measuring chain: signal of this specification is applied to the input of the whole
measuring chain:
signal shape rectangular
amplitude 43 mV
frequency 228,9 Hz
If the resultant vibration effective value lies in range 9,5 – 11 (mm/s), the instrument is in
order.

2) Test relay switching and limit evaluation – during test various limit values are set so, that
they are active(gradually L1, L2) and their evaluations are examined. If everything is
correct, the device will show Selftest OK, otherwise Selftest failed.

Last screen is for setting time. Accuracy of clock is ± 1 seconds per day. If the instrument is
not permanently connected to the computer, then every three months it is required to set
time.

Real time circuit has its own power supply, which is not needed to be replaced
(ie. it runs even after the instrument has been disconnected from the power
supply), but if the instrument is without power supply more than roughly
30days, it may reset time. We recommend always check time in the instrument.

a) Vibration velocity limits

After entering the limit setup, it is possible to input bounds for limit 1 and limit 2 (from 0.2
mm/s to the set maximal range). Another parameter is time, for which the limit has to be
exceeded, to be operated (range 1 s – 10 s).

Fig. 28 Limits for vibration velocity setup.

b) Bearing condition limits

www.viditech.eu sales@viditech.cz 16
VIDITECH 2500CV/3000CV
Limit of the bearing condition is relative to the BC value calculated as a rate of the actual
value to the reference value. The limit can be set in a range (1.0 – 99.9) or turned off (OFF).

c) Temperature limits

It is possible to set temperature limits for all channels (A,B, C, D). The limit can be allowed
by entering the respective value, or turned off (OFF). In case of unconnected temperature
sensor, N/A is displayed at the channel, and it is not possible to set limits.

Purpose of particular switches:

- ICP/-24V – switches between ICP(current supply +24V/5mA) and voltage supply(-24VDC).
These are set for each channel separately.
- CMP/DIR – used for connection of passive speed sensor (position CMP) or for connection
other sensors – acceleration sensors, distance sensors (position DIR. This is set for both
channels at once.

8 MOST COMMON CAUSES OF MALFUNCTION

The instrument Viditech 2000CV has its own internal diagnostical functions, which are carried
out independently on safety appliances and diagnostical activity. If the instrument discovers any
errors, it informs the user using a notification on the display and turns off the OK relay. In this
case the defect must be removed without delay.

10 ACCESSORIES
We recommend the following accessories to the 2500CV/3000CV instrument:
1) Accelerometers with integrated temperature sensors ATW08 – product of ViDiTech.

Fig. 26 Accelerometers from ViDiTech.

The sensors contain one measuring element (powered by the CCLD system) and are
standardly produced with a sensitivity ca. 100 mV/g and with an integrated temperature
sensor Pt100 in the top of the M8 screw, which also serves for mounting to the measured
spot. They are equipped with 3 m cables with a connector connectable to the
2500CV/3000CV instrument and applicable to temperature up to 105 °C. Two accelerometer
sensors may be connected to one instrument.
For details visit http://www.viditech.eu section Sensors.

2) Converter ModBus/USB – product of ViDitech

VIDITECH 2500CV/3000CV
The converter is used to connect the instrument to a PC (using a standard USB port). The
converter supports all communication speeds, which are implemented in the instrument and
is a simple and suitable solution to interconnect more instruments to one PC (e.g. managing
instruments using Control Software).
For details visit http://www.viditech.eu section Converters.

3) Lambda power supply

Fig. 28 Instrument power supply unit.

Power supply 230 V AC/24 V DC 10 W is ideal for powering one instrument from the
distribution network 230 V AC. Can easily be fitted to the instrument using the DIN moulding.
For powering more instruments, powerful supplies from the manufacturer´s product line can
be chosen (e.g. 30 W for 3 instruments 2000CV or 60 W for ca. 6 units).
For details see manufacturer´s website www.tdk-lambda.com

4) Control Software package – product of ViDiTech

Software working on the client – server model basis, is used for viewing, managing
instruments, their control, setup, data reading and remote access to them. From measured
values reports can be compiled or records saved to database.
