Biography
Dr Nachiappan (Nachi) Subramanian has 20 years of experience including 18 years in academia and 2 years in a consulting
company. He conducted his post-doctoral research at University of Nottingham, United Kingdom under BOYSCAST fellowship
program and received Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship Award. He obtained career award and young scientist
fellowship award from Indian government agencies to augment his research on supply chain modelling. In the past, he led a
few textile and software consultancy projects based at India and Japan. On the teaching front, Nachi is a Senior Fellow of
Higher Education Academy, UK, he has written several book chapters and cases among them his case titled “Supply chain
optimization at Madurai Aavin Milk Dairy” has been reported as the second largest selling Harvard cases in India. His writing
on emerging topics has received several hits including his media article on delivery drones published by China Daily and LSE
Business Review blog on Social media and successful retail operations in the hyper-customisation era. Nachi has a versatile
teaching experience in several countries including UK, China, India and Australia. In addition, Nachi has a rich executive
education experience either taught or convened modules in Victoria & Albert Museum Master Class and China High Speed
Rail international talent development programme.
He is an ambitious researcher with a focus on novel research topics such as humanitarian operations management,
sustainability, risk and innovation, co-creation, ambi-supply networks and performance measurement. Till date, to his credit he
has published more than 80 refereed research papers in leading operations and supply chain management journals. He guest
edited several special issues and involved in projects such as sustainable business model development, cold chain network
optimisation, eco-innovation in emerging economies and ambiguous threats in supply networks. In his previous assignments,
he contributed at various levels to successfully secure and complete eight research grants. Nachi has supervised several
undergraduate students’ dissertations, fifty five post graduate dissertations and ten PhD student thesis.
