Level: Intermediate
Yarn Weight: Worsted #4
Colour: 2 colours – colour change indicated in pattern
Hook: 5 mm (or whatever you have already been using for your 6” squares)
Size: 15 cm x 15 cm (approx. 6 inches)
Notes:
• I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
• Throughout the pattern, you will be working across the strand of yarn that you are not
using. This means you’ll only have ends to weave in at the beginning and end.
• When changing colours, pull the new colour through the top of the last dc. Do not cut
the last colour worked with.

Abbreviations

ch sp – chain space sc – single crochet

ss – slip stitch dc – double crochet
ch – chain

Block Pattern

With Colour A, ch 22.

Row 1:

• Continuing with Colour A, dc in 4th ch from

hook and in the next 3 st,
• change to Colour B, working 1 dc in each of
the next 4 st,
• change to Colour A at the top of the fourth st,
working 1 dc in each of the next 4 st, • Colour A at the top of
• change to Colour B at the top of the fourth st, the fourth st, working 1 dc in

Repeat row 5-6, finish off.

Finishing Round 1 (around outside of square):

• Join Colour A in any st.

• Sc in each dc,
• 3sc in the sides of each dc
• 2sc in each corner around.
• Join with sl st into first sc
• Outside Round 2:
o Ch 1,
o sc in same st as ch,
o sc in each sc around,
o 2sc in each corner around.
o Join with ss into first sc
• Finish off.

Finishing Round 2 (around outside of square):

• Ch 1,
• sc in same st as ch,
• sc in each sc around,
• 2sc in each corner around.
• Join with ss into first sc
• Finish off.
• REPEAT THIS ROUND IF NEEDED TO GET
APPROPRIATE SIZE.
