GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT ‘SYNOPSIS’

(This scheme is primarily meant for empirical/ non-doctrinal research)

1. Introduction

 Introduction ( state brief background and introduce the subject in 4-5 pages)
2. Survey of Literature: (two pages)

 You can write the name of the authors, name of the book/ article, year of publishing- it can be 5
and above.
Basis for choosing this Literature / Consult the literature on the broad theme to highlight:

 General development in the field [Ascending order]


 Noteworthy contribution in the field
 Demonstrate in brief research the review of earlier research works on the chosen theme
3. Statement of the Problem: (one para)

 Clearly state the problem to be undertaken (e. g. ‘status of labour law enforcement in the
districts of Indore and Bhopal of MP during 2005-06).
 Definition of concepts used in the study
4. Objectives

State categorically the measurable objectives (not more than five) of the research to be undertaken.

Example:

1. To study the available infrastructure and manpower to enforce labour law in the selected areas
2. To examine the factors ( social and economic) in child labour etc…
5. Methods:

Primary Data collection

If the study involves data collection from the respondents, following is the scheme:

 Universe of the study ( state the source/estimated number of total population of units)
 Sampling design( method of sampling to extract the required number of sample)
 Tools used ( the ways to collect the required data like interview schedule, questionnaire,
participant observation, case study)
 Techniques ( any scale, measurement etc)
 Statistical consideration
Secondary Data collection

If the study is to be supplemented by the secondary sources, following would be the scheme:

 Mention of Secondary sources- library resources/reports consulted/internet resources used


 Case studies
 Case laws/judgments
 Content analysis
 Style of reporting – analytical/descriptive/comparative/exploratry
6. Data Analysis & Interpretation:
State how the material collected would be analyzed/tabulate (use of computer software) to achieve the
stated objectives

 Simple to complex ( Mention the way you propose to interpret the results)
 Specific to general
7. Chapterization

State possible titles of chapters.
