The creation of Gani & Tayub (Pvt.) Limited takes us back to the year 1947, when the families of late Haji
Gani Diwan and Tayub Usman Bilwani migrated to Pakistan from Bantwa, India.

In India, they operated their business as general commodity merchants in the cities of Bombay, Cochin,
Hindupur, Madras and Bagalkot.

After the partition of India, on arrival in Pakistan, these two families declared their marger and formed two
main trading firms by the name of R. H. Gani and Habib Cloth House.

Later in 1955, after an era of mutual collaboration the decided to incorporate Gani & Tayub as a private limited
company.

Gani & Tayub (Pvt.) Ltd. became one fo Pakistan’s leading importers of synthetic yarn, fabrics, chemicals,
dyes, cement, textiles, PVC resin, plastic molding compounds and sugar.

Gani & Tayub (G&T) diversified into various fields and a number of companies were established in the
manufacturing sector.

More than five decades of operational excellence, experience ad expertise have all formed a combined
strength to empower the group as the pioneer in synthetic textiles in Pakistan. Over 6,500 employees
represent a skilled , trained and professionally dedicated work force in all its group companies.

The group realizes the importance of customer relationship and strives to deliver products employing
sophisticated technological facilities. The group continuously works for evolving innovative business strategies
with an eye on expansion.

“Trust & Reliability” is the core theme in all the group companies. In its more than 50 year history, not a single
company of the group has ever delayed its loan or credit installment payment, even by just one day.

• Company History

Mustaqim was established in 1994. Company started it’s operation from commission printing and after having
the edge in printing skills, started export in 1997. Being ver well aware of the general requirements of the
export business, we have been successfully working with our honorable customers.

• Sister Concern Companies

o (1947) The families of late Haji Gani Diwan and Tayub Usman Bilwani declare their merger and form
two main trading firms by the name of R.H. Gani and Habib Cloth House.
o (1955) Gani & Tayub (Pvt.) Ltd. is established. The company starts importing yarn, fabrics,
chemicals, dyes, cement and sugar. At a later stage, it also starts importing plastic molding
compounds, polyester and other synthetic yarn.
o (1967) Mushtaq & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd., comes into being. It commences operations with jacquard Raschel
knitting, and flat bet printing and finishing. At present, Mushtaq & Co. is the largest WARP knitting
unit in Pakistan.
o (1974) Muskalin Industries starts operation. Muskalin is engaged in making flat and circular knitted
fabrics.
o (1976) Bonanza Garments Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. Is established. The company starts production of
prime quality ready-made garments and the name “Bonanza” soon becomes a household name in
Pakistan.

Mustaqim is one of very few fast growing textile mills in Pakistan. Our main objective is to serve the ever growing needs
of Home-Textile sector of Europe and America, with the extreme enthusiasm and energy to meet the requirements and
specifications of our valuable customers. In this regard, with the help of kind guidance and support of our customers &
business partners, we have been moving into the right direction and have been ISO-9001:2000, SA-8000 and Öko-Tex
Class 100 Certified.

Mustaqim is a part of G&T group, which contains comprises 13 companies, having different operations.

Mustaqim was established in 1994. Company started it’s operation from commission printing and after having the edge
in printing skills, started export in 1997. Being ver well aware of the general requirements of the export business, we
have been successfully working with our honorable customers.

Mustaqim is a vertically integrated mill & has it’s own weaving, knitting, Processing, Designing & stitching facilities,
which are well equipped with the latest & modern machines from Europe.

For a ready reference, a short introduction is being given below:

• Styling & Designing

Every year with the help of our stylists and designers based in Europe, we keenly watch latest and on-going
trends and concepts. Based over the forecast, our stylists prepare different story boards, illustrating different
design ranges for various life styles. All designs are critically selected after preparation of Story Boards for
different countries by our stylists and designers. Designs are always selected from well renounced design
studios of Europe and USA.

• Weaving

We have our own Shuttle-Less & Sulzer looms, making 100% Cotton, Blended and 100% polyester fabrics. All
weaving operations are done under strict control of Quality Control & Quality Assurance Depts. After the
completion of weaving process, 100% fabric is checked and all faulty fabrics are segregated from fresh
fabrics. Only fresh categorized fabric is taken for the processing in the mills.

• Processing
o Pre-Treatment Facilities

Mustaqim has continuous line of famous branded machines from Europe & USA to facilitate
singeing, de-sizing, bleaching, mercerizing & washing processes. For the knitted fabric, Mustaqim
has complete unit of slitting machines with the special accessories from “Bianco” to slit tubular
fabrics into open width with perfect alignment of the knit courses.

o Printing Facilities

Mustaqim has three printing rotary machines from Zimmer & Reggiani. Two Zimmer printing rotary
machines can print 15 color up-to 285 cm. & 12 colors up-to 320 cms with the special equipment to
handle knit fabrics. Whereas, Reggiani printing rotary machine can print 21 colors up-to 180 cm. with
built-in washing facility.

o Finishing Facilities

Having expertise to give different finish feel to the fabric, Mustaqim can provide Crease-Resistant,
Easy Care & Scotch-Guard finishes with the help of four latest Babcock stentors with built-in Mahlo
devices to control cross, bow and skewing in the fabric, which is of great help specially to print
geometrical designs.

o Designing Facilities

Mustaqim has 8 CAD CAM computer designing systems from Silicon Graphics to facilitate optimum
designing of the designs in their original harmonic effects. Besides CAD CAM computer designing
systems, Mustaqim also has manual designing department.

o Testing / Checking Facilities

Mustaqim has very well equipped & well synchronized in-house laboratory, wherein different and
respective tests can be carried out in order to ensure the fulfillment of the customer’s specifications
and requirements.

o Quality Control

Mustaqim ALWAYS emphasis to produce goods with the highest level of quality. In this regard,
improvement of the systems and the product in regards to the quality is an on-going process.
Mustaqim has developed two independent Quality Assurance departments to help and improve
quality oriented environment, both in Stitching & Processing departments, which are working under
their respective heads, who are reporting directly to Executive Director of the mills.

• Confectioning

Mustaqim continuously emphasizes to produce made-ups with the assurance of highest satisfaction of our
customers. In this regard, Quality Assurance & Quality Control sections are given utmost importance in each
and every section of stitching. Mustaqim has recently renovated their existing stitching unit into a more
systematic and well-equipped in-house stitching unit, wherein goods are manufactured on hanging rail &
trolley systems.

Following policies are strictly followed during the confectioning of all products:

o Metal Control Policy.


o Needle Control Policy
o Glass Control Policy
o Clean as you go policy.

Mustaqim has the latest equipment for the palletization of the goods.

• Quality Assurance

Mustaqim ALWAYS emphasis to produce goods with the highest level of quality. In this regard, improvement
of the systems and the product in regards to the quality is an on-going process. Mustaqim has developed two
independent Quality Assurance departments to help and improve quality oriented environment, both in
Stitching & Processing departments, which are working under their separate and independent respective
heads, who are reporting directly to the management of the mills.

• E.T.P. Plant

We are first manufacturing plant in Karachi having fully operational WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT.

o We are saving 3 trees per month by using both side of the paper.
o We are only using Azo-Free dyes & chemicals & are certified with Oko-Tex (Class 1) certificate.
o We have converted our plant generators & boilers from diesel to gas to avoid extra emission of CO
in the environment.
o We have converted all our standard operating procedures of the plant according to the Energy
Conservation Program.
o We have modified our office area to utilize maximum day light in order to avoid extra usage of bulbs
o We have built our office area in a way that maximum natural air is utilized and usage of air
conditions is minimized.
o We have started replacing standard bulbs & tube lights with the energy savers to avoid extra
emission of CO & CO2 in the environment.
o We are using longer lasting batteries in order to avoid the emission of extra CO in the environment
during dispose off process.
o We are maintaining noise level with in the manufacturing area according to same standard as
described by UNO.
o We use recycled packaging material... even for the visiting cards.

Mustaqim Going Green

Environmental Policy

For the team at Mustaqim environment in general and particular to the customer and to our employees is of paramount
importance. The Company uses environmental friendly dyes & chemicals, which do not cause harm to human health for
which Company is also certified to Okeo-Tex Standard 100.

Considering the effects that manufacturing is currently having on the environment, the Environmental Management
System at Mustaqim is being designed to enable the organization to maximize its beneficial effects and to minimize its
adverse effects.

The environmental policy at Mustaqim is based on a suitable approach, which will not only be helpful in reducing
negative effects on the surrounding environment, but also recognize the safety of employees, community and
customers and develop products that have no negative environmental impacts.

1. The Company will establish and maintain documented environmental management system and practices as
per International and National Standards.
2. The Company will provide training to all its employees including Managers level to workers level and as well
as the top management. This will be helpful in giving them understanding as how to conduct their activities in
an environmentally friendly manner.
3. The Company will create a system for conducting environmental audits on regular basis to ensure proper
monitoring of the environmental objectives and systems.
4. The Company will try and reduce waste and the consumption of resources i.e. materials, fuel and energy.
5. The Company will monitor and control effluent discharges, air emissions and use of hazardous and non-
hazardous material where possible.
6. The Company beliefs in continuous improvement and ensuring that environmental policy and its objectives will
be made available to any interested party upon request.

Health & Safety Policy

For Mustaqim a clean, healthy and safe atmosphere is the most important and highly motivating factor, which will play
role in establishing the concept of employee involvement and job satisfaction.

Keeping in mind the prevailing knowledge of the industry and of specific hazards, the Company is committed to the
possible extend for providing a safe and healthy working environment.

1. The Company will provide and implement safe systems of work with a view to minimizing the incidence of
injury and property damage accidents.
2. The Company will ensure that employees are aware of their responsibilities in respect of health and safety
matters.
3. The Company will encourage the use of personal protective equipment, safety instructions/posters, safe
handling of material and use of safety instructions/procedures.
4. The Company will provide safety training for all employees including new appointees.
5. The Company will design system and maintain proper equipment for fire prevention, fire protection and fire
fighting, and as well as for evacuation in case of emergency.
6. The Company will provide for use of all personnel clean bathrooms, access to potable water and sanitary
facilities for food storage.
7. The Company will make this health & safety policy and its objectives available to any interested party upon
request.

Social Compliance Policy

Based on the principles of international human rights norms as described in International Labor Organization
Conventions, the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
and National/Local Labor Laws, Mustaqim has developed the following codes of conduct under which products are to
be manufactured.

Laws & Workplace Regulations:


The Company will comply with laws & regulations in all business locations.

No Child Labor:
The Company will not engage in or support the use of child labor.

No Forced Labor:
The Company will not use any involuntary or forced labor- indentured, bonded or otherwise.

Health & Safety:


The Company will provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment. The Company will ensure prevention
of accidents and injury. Clean & sanitary support facilities; access to potable water and safety training will also be a part
of Company’s policy.

Freedom of Association:
The Company will recognize and respect the rights of employees to associate, organize, and bargain collectively in a
lawful and peaceful manner, without penalty or interference.

Nondiscrimination:
The Company will employee, pay, promote and terminate workers on the basis of their ability to do the job, rather than
on the basis of personal characteristics or beliefs.

No Harassment or Abuse:
The Company will provide a work environment free of harassment, abuse or corporal punishment in any form.

Hours of Work:
Hours worked each day, and the days worked each week shall not exceed the legal limitations. The Company will
provide at least one day off in every seven-day period, except as required to meet urgent business needs.

Compensation & Benefits:


The Company will pay at least the minimum total compensation as required by local law, including those relating to
minimum wages, overtime, maximum hours, piece rates and other elements of compensation, provide legally mandated
benefits.

Environment:
The Company will comply with environmental rules, regulations & standards applicable to their operations & will
observe environmentally conscious practices in all locations of business.

Customs Compliance:
The Company will comply with applicable custom laws regarding illegal transshipment of products.

Drug Interdiction:
The Company cooperates with local, national and foreign customs and drug enforcement agencies to guard against
illegal shipments of drugs. This social compliance policy and its objectives will be made available to any interested party
upon request. We also expect these same commitments to be shared by all suppliers of Mustaqim.

Sharp-Tools & Metal Policy

• Mustaqim stitching units are capable to demonstrate its commitment for implement the sharp tools and metal
contamination policy.
• All stitching units must follow the Broken Needle Policy
• Clippers or scissors must be securely fastened with the work station or machine.
• Clippers, scissors and other sharpen tools if any must be counted out and in at the end of each day/shift by
the Line Supervisor.
• General housekeeping is properly carried out with vacuum cleaners to prevent the loosed stray metal
components.
• Products are 100% passed through the conveyor metal detector as finished goods after packing & labelling.
• It is the Mustaqim’s and its entire team responsibility to ensure that no products are contaminated and
workers will not use / wear any type of metal ring / watch etc. Therefore, workers who are working inside
metal zone will not use any type of metal item. Similarly, the use of pins and staples is not allowed in metal
free zone.
• Conveyor metal detectors include:
o an automatic rejection device which returns the contaminated product.
o a stop bell with an alarm

MUSTAQIM’s Commitment & Initiatives

“REACH” is a European Regulation introduced by EEC in order to regularize the existence of all available chemical
substances within Europe, which are used in all the products; either made in Europe or being imported in Europe from
outside. Precisely, “REACH” ensures that each chemical substance; that is as low as 0.1% of the total size of the
product; is totally environmental and health friendly. Henceforth, all harmful and hazardous chemicals for health and
environment are to be registered so that the control could be made effectively.

Mustaqim is pleased to announce that as a Reliable and an Environmental Friendly and a Fully Social Compliant
Responsible company, Mustaqim has already taken care of following steps:

• Achieved Certification for the Tested of Harmful Substances Certification against Oeko Tex Standard 100
(Class I) certified by Testex / Swiss Textile Testing Institute.
• Achieved Certification for the Social Accountability Systems against SA8000: 2001 Standard certified by
ALGI.
• Achieved Quality Management Systems Certification - ISO 9001: 2000 Standard certified by TQCSI.
• Achieved ECO Certificate issued from our honorable Customer M/s. Otto Group Germany.
• Became the first manufacturer & Exporter of Home Textile Products from Karachi, Pakistan to be installing
and generating Effluent Waste Water Treatment Plant.

As for as REACH regulation is concerned, according to the compliances regulation, we have to ensure that all chemical
substances that we are using in the complete manufacturing cycle for all the goods to be exported to all EEC Countries
are completely free of any SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern). As per the basic REACH protocols, Mustaqim;
having their manufacturing facilities situated out-side European Countries, can not get registered with REACH,
however, Mustaqim still has to ensure that all chemical substances which are used for all EEC customers are
completely free of SVHC, as listed in the following controlled list by ECHA (European Chemical Agency).

Mustaqim is pleased to announce that as of now; all it’s products are Completely Free of all SVHC, as listed &
confirmed by ECHA in the list published by them.

However, as it is a continuous process, Mustaqim has been critically monitoring this list on a regular periodically basis.
Mustaqim also been keeping a very close liaison with all it’s Dyes & Chemical suppliers, which happen to be All
European companies. Furthermore, Mustaqim has also been conducting awareness sessions for all packaging
suppliers to be more vigilant for the REACH obligation so that it is fully controlled at all the levels of the manufacturing
within the company.

Mission Statement for Year 2010

By acknowledging & appreciating the efforts of the employees & the team members of our company to achieve our
required results in the previous year, I am glad to announce below mentioned new targets for the coming year in lieu of
the requirements of our valuable customers & the imperative need to develop a fully motivated human resourced
strength within the company.

• We need to focus to achieve a more cleaner & greener production environment within the company. You all
are aware that we are the first company in Karachi who initiatively installed 1st Effluent waste water treatment
plant to convert industrial residuals into biodegradable manures. Henceforth, all corrective & preventive
measures are to be taken to provide a fully hygienic & clean environment within the company.
• We have already started providing food for all staff & workers on the subsidized rates in order to provide them
healthier & hygienic in-takes.
• We already have in-house Clinic to provide health assistance to all staff & workers & we are providing all
subscribed medicines to all staff & workers for free of cost.
• We need to focus on “Cost Effective Working Practice” as we have to provide a most economic product to our
customer, without compromising on our quality standards. It is imperative that all our daily production
practices are based on it accordingly.
• All pre-designed company policies such as Environmental Policy, Health & Safety Policy, Social Compliance
Policy, Needle Control Policy, Glass Control Policy, Metal Control Policy & Cleanliness Policy need to be
followed on regular basis.
• During our daily production & management meetings, besides discussing our regular agenda, we also need to
focus on “Supply Chain Management” factors; such as “Logistic Support”, “Quality Improvement Actions”,
“Inventory Control” & “Close Coordination” within the company so that all merchandiser of very good quality
could be delivered to the customer on a very short lead time at the most cost effective structure.
