The Bracelet Thief ‘At 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, police in Port Orford, Oregon, arrested one of the four suspects below for stealing a bracelet from Connie Ortega’s locker. *Ortega left the bracelet in her locker at the community recreation gym at 9:55 a.m., after she had changed into her volleyball uniform. ®Then she walked into the gym. ‘She returned to the locker room at 11:45 a.m., after her volleyball games, and discovered her bracelet had been stolen. ‘The police arrived 10 minutes later and received the information below from witnesses, and later from the suspects they detained. ®A member of the opposing team saw her teammate, Anna Shroff, go to the locker room to use the restroom at 10:50 a.m., but she left and did not go into the locker room again. A teammate of Ortega’s saw Teresa Tate enter the locker room first, right after the last game ended at 11:35 a.m. *The coach of the team that beat Ortega’s team in both games said that Hunt and O'Neil entered the locker room after Tate left. *The gym custodian said that Ortega was the last one to come out of the locker room, and the four suspects below were the only people in the locker room before Ortega returned to her locker. "The police used this information to hold and question the suspects below. “After police listened to all four suspects’ statements, the police asked to search one of the suspects, and then the suspect confessed and pulled the stolen bracelet from her pocket.
