Lesson Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to create a visual
presentation using the information they learned when researching and reading about the
state assigned to them.
Introduction (Padlet)
20 minutes “Let’s go over the handouts on the West coast from yesterday.”
“What was your favorite part of each state?”
As a class we discuss what was previously learned about the West coast. On
the whiteboard we create a bubble map of who wants what states, so they
can begin their discussion on Padlet.
“Yesterday, we did the state worksheet to find out generic findings on each
state. Today, you will use an application called Padlet to create an area for
your group to post findings on the state you are working on so you can all
access it. Then you combine all of those findings onto a science fair board
and present it to the class.”
Guided Students are given time to ask questions, and get familiar with Padlet for
Practice themselves, use Padlet with their partner, and login.
20 minutes Students take this time to get started on the project.
Ind./ Partner Students reference the Padlet they made with their assign partner for a
Practice reminder of what they need to have on the science board.
35 minutes Students work collaboratively on creating their Padlet, science board
x2, finishing presentation during 2, 35 min blocks over 2 days, along with any “free” time
up on day 4 they wish to use on their project.
Assessment Students present their Padlet to the class on day 5 of the unit, as well as their
of science board.
Objective: Students submit their Padlet to the class website.
Project is graded with rubric that was given to students during direct
instruction.
