My Contribution for Indonesia

I graduated from bachelor program of communication studies in 2016. Until now, I am joined in an
organization named Ikatan Mahasiswa Lampung Timur (Ikam Lamtim). As a person who has ever
been vice general chairman of Ikam Lamtim, the experiences when I was in Ikam Lamtim helped me
in increasing leadership skill, public speaking skill, problem solving skill and sensitiveness skill in social
problems which is happened around me. By following this organization, I took role in increasing persue
high education in Lampung Timur.

Road to School is the name of that program. The goals of program was to motivate students to get
universities and to inform them about it. Trough the program I was visiting 20 schools and 467 students
in Lampung Timur. I was taking a role in coaching program which aimed to students who would take
examination to universities. By this program, we informed students what were tricks when they did the
exam. We also helped them to prepare a place to stayed.

One of my achievement was to become Lampung ambassador in Jambore Pemuda Indonesia (JPI).
The program was held by Ministry of Youth and Sports the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora) on
October 2015 in Kepulauan Riau. Through this program, I introduced Lampung culture to the other
participants from all over Indonesia by performed an art festival. Art festival was the way for me and
other participants to preserving Indonesian cultures. After all, JPI though me about differences. It made
me learned about tolerance and nationalism.

In addition to promoting culture by JPI, I also promoted the importance of using Bahasa. In 2016, I
became part of Pekan Bahasa Se-Sumatera and became runner up in Debate Competition of Bahasa
for Student Grade in Sumatra. The competition was held every year. Through the competition, I took
a role to promoting the importance of using Bahasa. Bahasa as identity of the nation must be priority,
regional language as Indonesian culture must be preserved and foreign languages as multinational
language must be mastered.

My interested in social projects, motivating me to help manufacturers of terasi in Muara Gading Mas
village in Lampung Timur are still difficult to marketing their products widely. Currently, through Ikam
Lamtim that is collaborating with the other social Community called Janis, we introduce digital
marketing as a new technology in marketing product. To realize this program, we will organize a
workshop and collaborate with Bukalapak, one of the biggest online selling company in Indonesia.

Internet Service Providers Association of Indonesia (APJII) reported that penetration of Indonesian
internet user has increased every year. In this survey, there are four main activities did by publics
when they accessing the internet. One of the activities is looking for news update. Today, the online
media are growing rapidly in Indonesia. Some online media such as Detik.com, Kompas.com and
Tempo.co is a pioneer in the establishment of online media in Indonesia. Unfortunately, based on the
report of the Press Council of Indonesia (Dewan Pers), there are 64 complaints received by Dewan
Pers about code of journalistic ethics in online media during 2011. Online media also did not yet have
specific rules in their platform.

Based on these facts, I want to be a professional in New Media studies with being a lecturer and
researcher who actively examine issues related the development of online media. So that, I can help
to improving the quality of online media in Indonesia.
