A nurse is someone who has the knowledge, skills and authority to provide nursing care to

others based on the knowledge and tips he has within the limits of his or her authority.
A nurse is a person who has passed the nursing education both at home and abroad in
accordance with the provisions of applicable legislation.
Professional Nurses are Nurses who are responsible and authorized to provide services Pare
independently and or in collaboration with other health personnel in accordance with the
authority. (MOH, 2002)
A nurse is said to be professional if she possesses knowledge, nursing professional skills and
has professional attitude according to profession code of ethics. Hussein (1994) affirms that
nursing professional skills are not only skilled in performing nursing procedures, but include
interpersonal skills, intellectual skills and technical skills. Profile of professional nurse is
picture and appearance of all nurses in conducting nursing activity according to nursing ethic
code.
Nurses who interact daily with clients, need the ability of interpersonal relationships to be
able to respond appropriately and wisely various needs or problems that complained about.
Unfortunately, in reality there are still many nurses who have difficulty facing the condition.
This is mainly because when the education period, students are more taught procedural
technical issues without integrating with the ability of soft skills. As for the ability of
interpersonal relationships is the ability to grow confident, motivate, be a good listener,
patient, empathy, communicate, and praised by upholding the ethics of the profession. To
build the interpersonal relationships of nursing students, they must conform to the character
of caring. The concept of this one has a very deep meaning, not only to care or care, but also
to imply a strong moral and professional commitment to the health and welfare of clients.
Welcome to the era of globalization of nursing professionalism is needed. Professional nurses
are one of the musts for our health. In the hands of professional nurses as well as caring for
patients expect care and good service and iklas. Professional nurses require standard capacity
and quality.
Then how to become a professional nurse. Is it enough with nursing education given in high
perguran only or still there are others
Here are some tips and tricks to become a professional nurse:
1. Have a nursing education that is legitimate.
2. Rest assured that the level of nursing higher education is not guaranteed to be a
professional nurse.
3. Compulsory 3 basic competencies, namely the competencies gained through intensive
training and nursing education, significant intellectual components in carrying out their
duties, and provide important services to the community.
4. Has a standard of competence and compliance with professional code of ethics.
5. Able to provide satisfaction to patients, including speed & accuracy in service, smile and
sincerity.
6. Be Communicative with the patient and dedicated caring for the patient.
7. Continue to explore and learn the science of the latest care both through formal and
informal nursing education, so the skills as nurses become better and better..

Related to that, the Directorate of Higher Education issued Decree No. 427 / dikti / kep /
1999, on the foundation of the establishment of Nursing education in Indonesia based on
Nursing S1. This decree is based on nursing that has a clear body of knowladge, can be
developed as high as it has a strong educational base2. In addition, if reviewed again, the
issuance of the decree itself certainly there are those who are blessed recommend it, in this
case the Ministry of Health (DepKes) and the Indonesian National Nurses Association
(PPNI). If seen from this, it can be concluded that there is good collaboration between MOH
and PPNI in order to advance world of nursing in Indonesia.
