Dear Parents,

March continues to be an exciting and busy month! Students and staff have been
enjoying our “March is Reading Month” activities throughout this month. Check out the
picture below of all school “flashlight reading” during our assembly. Students enjoyed
reading with 400+ of their closest friends! Here are the events that are coming up for our
last two weeks of March:

some time this weekend to review your child’s progress and celebrate all of their
academic growth!

PreK/Kindergarten *Parent Teacher Conferences Next Week- All students should have assigned Parent
Teacher Conference times for next week Monday, 19th, between 4:30pm-8:30pm or

ART NEWS
We are busy in the art room putting the finishing touches on our projects to be considered for the 18th annual Hudsonville Public Schools Art
Show! Everyone is invited to the Hudsonville Public Schools PK-12 Student Art Show! The show will run from Monday, April 23rd through
Tuesday, May 1st at Hudsonville City Hall. City Hall will be open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. School artist receptions will take place in the
evenings from 5:30PM to 7:30 PM. The artist reception for Park Elementary is on Thursday, April 26th, from 5:30-7:30 pm. If your child has
artwork in the show they will receive a letter the week before spring break! - Mrs. Anderson

The Hudsonville Athletic Boosters are presenting the GMB/ Eagle 5k " Brian Carlson Memorial Run" on March 24, 2018 at 9am. The event will
take place at Hudsonville High School with the route running through the city of Hudsonville. Each year, the Hudsonville Athletic Boosters seeks to
supplement the athletics program with thousands of dollars through various fundraising activities, including the GMB Eagle 5K, whose proceeds will
go to athletic scholarships. As an organization, we give ten $1000 scholarships a year to outstanding student-athletes who are pursuing a college

Michigan Fire Juniors ~ Sparks Program 2018 Spring Season for ages 5 - 8 The Sparks program is the first step in the Michigan Fire Juniors
soccer ladder. The program has been revamped for the upcoming 2017-2018 season with a new curriculum designed to enhance player

Protect Young Eyes - Defending Kids from Online Danger


The South Elementary Parents Club, in conjunction with other district elementary Parents Clubs, has invited Protect Young Eyes (protectyoungeyes.com) to
present at Hudsonville High School’s original auditorium.  The purpose of their presentation is to increase the digital IQ of our families.  Led by Chris McKenna,
Protect Young Eyes is a team of digital experts who present around the country.  Parents and guardians are invited the evening of Monday, March 26 to a 90-
minute seminar starting at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM) in the auditorium of Hudsonville High School.  No tickets are necessary, but seating is limited.

Do you have a horse? Do you love horses?
The Hudsonville Equestrian team will be holding an informational meeting on March 15 from 6:30 - 7:30 at Riley Street Middle School Cafeteria.
We accept anyone in grade 5 - 12 with an interest in horses with all levels of experience. Even students without horses may participate as a groom.
