2. DISCUSSION

1.1.

In problem 1.1 we are looking for the effect of Erternal relux ratio to the number of
trays. From the graph we see that the number of trays decrease with the increasing of
external reflux exponentially. Thus we can decide the suitable condition of operation in
distillation process.

1.2

In problem 1.2 we are looking for the effect of Erternal relux ratio to the condenser
duty and reboiler duty. From the graph we see as the external reflux ratio increase the
reboiler duty also increase but the condenser duty is decrease. We can decide that the
optimum condition is the condition at the intersection of two lines.

1.3.
In problem 1.3 we are comparing the results of material stream, composition,
energy stream at different setting of fluid package. We take molar flow at Bottom2, for
NRTL it is 41,28 , while for Peng Robinson and UNIQUAC it is 41,29. And others
some compared variables as follow:

No variables NRTL Peng Robinson UNIQUAC

1 Molar flow at Bottom (kmol/h) 36,75 36,75 36,75

2 Temerature at Distillate(C) 62,71 65,77 62,75
3 Composition water at Distillate2 0,0344 0,0844 0,0655
4 Composition methanol at Bottom2 0,5638 0,5613 0,588
5 Energy at Q_heater2(kj/h) 1,464*10^6 1,878*10^6 1,053*10^6

We see that each fluid package has their own results even though there are some
variable that the value are same.

V. CONCLUSSION
From practice that we have done we can conclude as following:
1. External reflux ratio can affect the number of trays, condenser duty, and reboiler duty

2. Different fluid package will result different value of material stream, composition,

and energy stream.

3. Hysys can simulate the disllation process
