THEORY

2.1 Materials and tools

Our experiment are based on several sources of video on the
internet. The equipment that we used are adapted from a video “Cara
Membuat Roket Air” that was published on May 12th, 2016 by Fernanda
Bayu for 13 minutes 45 seconds, and also “Roket Air SMA Kristen Terang
Bangsa ( XI-IPA-Daniel) that was published on September 4th, 2016 by
Suxess Official for 11 minutes. The materials and tools are:

o 1,5 liters aqua bottle o Glue

o Pipe glue

o 1,5 liters sprite bottle

o Duct tape

o Scissor

o Polycarbonate

o Bicycle valve

2.2 Making water rocket and launcher

The steps of making the water rocket and the launcher in our
experiment are also adapted from both previous videos, plus a video “Cara
Membuat Peluncur Roket Air” that was published on July 6th, 2017 by
Wisnu Purnomo for 12 minutes 48 seconds. These are the steps.
1. Connect PVC pipes with pipe glue according to the picture.

2. Cut the part of the sprite bottle that resembles a cone

3. Fill the small hole of the bottle with dough
4. Stick the part that have been cut to the base of aqua bottle with duct
tape
5. Cover the cone of the sprite bottle with cardboard and plastic(wrapper)
to shape of sharp cone
6. Cut polycarbonate into 4 wings with the pattern below

7. Cling the wings around aqua bottle with glue and dust tape
8. Pierce the pipe cover as big as the diameter of bicycle valve with
solder
9. Get the bicycle valve in that hole, and cover the side of the hole with
glue
10. Connect the pipe cover with 15 cm PVC pipe in the launcher with pipe
glue
11. Insert the pipe connector into the 80 cm PVC pipe at the launcher
12. Twist the 80 cm PVC pipe with small tape, it is 12 cm from the top

 13. Arrange cable ties on a piece of tape, and stick it around the top of 80
cm PVC pipe with the the head of the cable ties exactly on the tape
coil

2.3 Launching water rocket

We also adapted the steps of launching water rockets from a video.
The video is titled “Launching Bottle Rocket” and it was published on
November 19th, 2011 by BabyScientists for 4 minutes 13 seconds. These
are the steps.
1. Fill the rocket up with water, it is 10 cm height
2. Put the bottom of the rocket into the top of the launcher
3. Push the pipe connector up until it stuck at the head of the cable ties
4. Connect the bicycle valve with the air pump valve
5. Pump it as fast as possible
