is
the
one
where
you
wrote
about
your
favourite
characters
in
Freaks
and
Geeks.)
Review
all
of
the

paragraphs.
Answer
the
following
questions:
What
was
one
of
your
series
of
paragraphs’
strengths?
What
was
something
you
need
to
improve
on
for
the
next
series
of
paragraphs?
What
was
the
easiest
part
of
writing
the
series
of
paragraphs?
What
was
the
most
challenging?
What
is
your
goal
for
the
next
series
of
paragraphs?
How
will
you
work
to
reach
that
goal?
Show
Mr.
Lindsay
your
completed
reflection,
then
turn
it
in.
Purpose:
In
the
literacy
course,
students’
writing
and
critical
thinking
skills
are
often
developing
at
a
much
slower
rate
than
other
students.
In
a
last
effort
to
improve
these
student’s
literacy
skills
before
they
finish
high
school,
it
is
crucial
that
the
students
deliberately
reflect
on
their
work
to
understand
where
they
are
excelling
and
where
they
need
to
improve.
The
purpose
of
this
reflection
is
to
help
students
reflect
on
their
work
and
set
realistic
goals
to
improve
their
writing.
Type
of
Assessment:
AS
a
tool
for
setting
goals
(AS
a
way
to
monitor
your
own
process
to
make
adjustments).
2. Writing
a
news
report
Course:
ENG1D
Task:
Write
a
news
report
in
25
minutes
that
will
be
marked
using
the
OSSLT
rubrics.
Purpose:
The
students
in
the
grade
9
academic
class
are
all
expected
to
write
the
OSSLT
next
school
year.
This
assignment
is
completed
for
students
to
understand
if
they
are
writing
at
a
passing
level
according
to
the
OSSLT
expectations.
The
teacher
may
record
the
marks
according
to
the
OSSLT
rubric,
however,
on
early
attempts
return
the
student’s
papers
with
P(pass),
BL(borderline)
or
NQ(not
quite).
Type
of
Assessment:
AS
a
way
to
monitor
your
own
process
to
make
adjustments
(FOR
the
teacher
to
provide
you
with
feedback).
3. Kahoot
(https://create.kahoot.it/l/#)
Course:
ENG1D
Task:
Using
your
own
electronic
device,
answer
the
questions
that
appear
on
the
projector
screen
in
a
competition
against
your
classmates.
Points
are
awarded
to
those
who
input
the
correct
answer,
and
more
points
to
those
who
do
it
quickly.
The
scores
are
tracked
and
displayed
quickly
after
each
question
and
the
overall
standings
are
displayed
at
the
end
of
the
game.
Purpose:
This
exercise
is
useful
during
a
novel
study
unit
to
recall
important
information
while
summarizing
sections
of
the
novel.
The
purpose
of
Kahoot
is
to
have
students
engage
in
a
fun
review
activity
where
they
can
guage
their
level
of
understanding
(and
in
comparison
to
their
classmates),
and
work
in
pairs
or
groups
to
provide
feedback
amongst
their
peers.
At
the
end
of
the
game,
students
will
see
their
score
as
a
reflection
of
how
well
they
knew
that
section
of
the
book.
Type
of
Assessment:
AS
a
way
to
monitor
your
own
process
to
make
adjustments
(AS
a
way
to
provide
feedback
to
your
peers).
