Aerodynamicist
Location: Woking, GB

Job Type: Permanent  

Contract Duration: Permanent

Purpose of the Role:

To add aerodynamic performance to the race car by analysis of CFD, wind tunnel and track
data and refine/optimise the car design.

Role Dimensions:

Reports to the Principal aerodynamicist


Flexibility in working hours is required (Evenings, Weekends)
Some Travel to the TMG Wind Tunnel as per agreed rotation

Principal Accountabilities:

Make significant contribution to the ideas and design philosophy discussions about where to find the aero
performance.
Ensure projects sent to the wind tunnel are managed effectively in line with the wind tunnel planning
Ensuring that ideas and designs are coherent with the overall objectives of the team.
Liaison with the Design team (Surfacers Designers) to ensure the quality of experiment in the wind tunnel
Liaison with the model shop to ensure the quality of experiment in the wind tunnel
Conducting wind tunnel tests
Delivery of CFD analysis and input for their area of the car to deadlines
Developing aerodynamic solutions for the racing car that deliver performance under the direction of the
Aerodynamics Project Leader
Promote collaborative work when discussing results or defining development direction
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Demonstrate a good knowledge of flow structure characteristics and flow breakdown mechanisms.
Have good data driven analysis skills
Demonstrate good CAD design skills
Experience of planning and organising aero projects to pre-agreed targets.
Experience in F1 Aerodynamics with particularly sound knowledge of the F1 wind tunnel testing environment and
use of CFD.
A Master/PhD in relevant subject area

Excellent communication skills to target a variety of audiences and the ability to influence as appropriate.
Possess the drive to strive and achieve results using all the information available.
The ability to follow aerodynamic development directions when defined by the Aerodynamic Department as a
priority
Ability to communicate efficiently with the Aerodynamics Project Leader and the Principal Aerodynamicists
