Attended grand rounds
Shadowed Dr. Don Scott, PharmD (Clinical Lead of Infectious Disease and Antimicrobial
Stewardship Specialist)
Actively involved in weekly table-top rounds with an Infectious Disease physician and other

hospital atmosphere and how crucial of a role pharmacists play within the clinical healthcare
system. I became familiarized with the adjudication system known as Paragon, became fluent
with the Omnicell machines, and learned the workflow within a hospital setting. I also
compounded a plethora of different antibiotics and IV fluids, learned the process of add-ease
preparation, and learned all the logistics of sterile compounding while practicing 797 sterility
guidelines.
Attended clinical grand rounds for hospital management
Project presentation on IV Fluid Resuscitation for both general and special patient populations
Shadowed Dr. Sara Ogrin, PharmD (Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship Infectious Disease

population.

my IPPE rotation. I was immersed in a different community setting and performed more patient
related clinical tasks including patient outcomes, MTM’s, and CMR’s.
120 hours
I shadowed Dr. John Lee, an internal medicine physician who specialized in pulmonology. I
wanted to submerge myself with experiences within the entire medical field and be sure to
explore all of my options prior to making the decision on which career I wanted to pursue. I was
able to accompany Dr. Lee throughout his entire day, as he progressed from patient to patient on
his daily rounds. It was interesting to see a physician visit patients on their own without an entire
medical staff, and I was able to gain valuable experiences throughout the entire day.
University of Michigan Hospital 2009
I shadowed Zack Cavell, a student within the Nurse Practitioner’s program at the University of
Michigan. Nurses are an integral part of the healthcare system, and their contributions are very

system. I wanted to be sure to explore all of my options within the field of Medicine before
choosing my career path.
