Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the level of blood
glucose is persistently raised above the normal range.
Diabetes mellitus is a syndrome with disordered metabolism
and inappropriate hyperglycemia due to either a deficiency
of insulin secretion or to a combination of insulin resistance

3
and inadequate insulin secretion to compensate. Diabetes
mellitus occurs in two primary forms:
type 1, characterized by absolute insufficiency, and the more
prevalent
type 2, characterized by insulin resistance with
varying degrees of insulin secretory defects.

That’s all form me, I return back to the toastmaster , thankyou

Toast Master Alright give more applause for our table topic speaker ,

Alright, my name is ...... and I’m as a speaker 1 today,
nice to meet you all, and I hope topic today is useful
for us because it relates to our daily actifity may be, to
all people. So my duty is presenting the topic as well
as possible. What is the topic for today ? Let see it,
thank you. Ok time I return to Ms. Toast Master.
2. Ok Thank you Mr.Toast Master for the time given to
me, now I will presenting our topic today, the topic
today is diabetes

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the level of blood

glucose is persistently raised above the normal range.
Diabetes mellitus is a syndrome with disordered metabolism
and inappropriate hyperglycemia due to either a deficiency
of insulin secretion or to a combination of insulin resistance
and inadequate insulin secretion to compensate. Diabetes
mellitus occurs in two primary forms:
type 1, characterized by absolute insufficiency, and the more
prevalent
type 2, characterized by insulin resistance with
varying degrees of insulin secretory defects.
Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases
characterized by elevated levels of glucose in the blood
(hyperglycemia) resulting from defects in insulin secretion,
4
insulin action, or both (ADA], Expert Committee on the
Diagnosis and Classification of Diabetes Mellitus, 2003.
Causes for Diabetes Mellitus
The cause of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes remains
unknown, although genetic factors may play a role. Diabetes
mellitus results from insulin deficiency or resistance. Insulin
transports glucose into the cell for use as energy and storage
as glycogen. It also stimulates protein synthesis and free
fatty acid storage. Insulin deficiency or resistance
compromises the body tissues’ access to essential nutrients
for fuel and storage. The resulting hyperglycemia can
damage many of the body’s organs and tissues.
Type 1 diabetes is due to pancreatic islet B cell destruction
predominantly by an autoimmune process, and these patients
are prone to ketoacidosis.
Type 2 diabetes is the more prevalent form and results from
insulin resistance with a defect in compensatory insulin
secretion
Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, controls the
level of glucose in the blood by regulating the production and
storage of glucose.

Ok, that’s from me, now will continue by the speaker 2, thank
you. Time I return to Mr. Toast Master.
Toast Master Alright now we’are going to call our second speaker
today…….
Second Thank you Mr. toastmaster. Alright, my name is …..and I’am
Speaker a second speaker today, nice to meet you all, and I hope the
topic today is useful for us. So, my duty is presenting the
topic as well as possible. What is the topic for today? Let’s
see it, thank you.
Thank you likes what just Ms. toastmaster has told you that
the topic today is “Diabetes ”.
Classification of Diabetes Mellitus
There are several different types of diabetes mellitus; they
may differ in cause, clinical course, and treatment. The major
classifications of diabetes are:

5
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes mellitus) is
caused by B-cell destruction, usually leading to absolute
insulin deficiency
a) Immune mediated
b) Idiopathic

Type 2 diabetes (previously referred to as non insulin

dependent diabetes mellitus) ranges from those with
predominant insulin resistance associated with relative
insulin deficiency, to those with a predominantly insulin
secretory defect with insulin resistance.
DIABETES MANAGEMENT
The main goal of diabetes treatment is to normalize insulin
activity and blood glucose levels to reduce the development
of vascular and neuropathic complications.
Drugs for Treating Hyperglycemia
The drugs for treating type 2 diabetes fall into several
categories:
1) Drugs that primarily stimulate insulin secretion by
binding to the sulfonylurea receptor. Sulfonylureas
remain the most widely prescribed drugs for treating
hyperglycemia. The meglitinide analog repaglinide
and the D-phenylalanine derivative nateglinide also
bind the sulfonylurea receptor and stimulate insulin
secretion.
2) Drugs that alter insulin action: Metformin works in the
liver. The thiazolidinediones appear to have their main
effect on skeletal muscle and adipose tissue.
3) Drugs that principally affect absorption of glucose: The
glucosidase inhibitors acarbose and miglitol are such
currently available drugs.
4) Drugs that mimic incretin effect or prolong incretin
action: Exenatide and DPP 1V inhibitors fall into this
category.
5) Other: Pramlintide lowers glucose by suppressing
glucagon and slowing gastric emptying.
Insulin
Insulin is indicated for type 1 diabetes as well as
for type 2 diabetic patients with insulinopenia whose

6
hyperglycemia does not respond to diet therapy either
alone or combined with other hypoglycemic drugs.
Therefore, the therapeutic goal for diabetes
management is to achieve normal blood glucose levels
(euglycemia) without hypoglycemia and without
seriously disrupting the patient’s usual lifestyle and
activity.

There are five components of diabetes management

• Nutritional management
• Exercise
• Monitoring
• Pharmacologic therapy
• Education

Ok, that’s from me, Time I return to Ms. Toast Master.

Thank you likes what just Mr/Ms. toastmaster has told you
that the topic today is “vertigo ”
Vertigo is a state of dizziness that is felt extraordinary. A
person suffering from vertigo feels around as if spinning, this
is caused by a balance disorder centered in the labyrinth or
snail area in the ear area.
Vertigo occurs not because of heredity, but there are
several factors that cause vertigo such as migraine attacks,
inflammation of the neck, motion sickness, bacterial
infection of the ear and lack of oxygen to the brain.
The balance of the body is controlled by the small
brain that gets information about the body position of the
balance organs in the middle ear and the eyes. Vertigo usually
arises from interference with middle and inner ear or visual
impairment.

13
Vertigo can be divided into several types based on the
cause, namely:
1. Vertigo laryngea, which is dizzy due to cough attack.
2. Vertigo nocturna, the feeling as if it will fall at the
beginning of sleep.
3. Vertigo ocularis, ie dizziness due to eye disease,
especially due to paralysis or imbalance of the eyeball
muscles.
4. Vertigo rotatoria, which is dizzy as if all around the body
circling.

Here's What You Can Do On Vertigo Disease:
1. Inhale deeply, then close your eyes, and immediately find
a position that lets you lie down. If not possible, then
immediately sit down.
2. If you feel nauseated and want to vomit, then immediately
seek the help of people near you to help you to the toilet.
3. When you lie down, keep the position until the vertigo
attack is reduced or lost.

4. Open your eyes slowly then try to tilt the body, or head
move your head slowly. If with this action vertigo attacks
turned out to come back, then it means you should

14
immediately close your eyes, or return to its original position.
Treatment of this disease must be seen first type of disease.
Medications to reduce mild vertigo are meklizin,
dimenhidrinat, perfenazin and scopolamine. Scopolamine
primarily serves to prevent motion sickness, which is present
in the form of leather plaster with long working for several
days.
There are several types of drugs can cause vertigo. Such
as quinine, streptomycin, and salicylates, are known to cause
chronic inflammation of the inner ear.
