Outline for Unit 2 Embedded Assessment 1

Use the following to plan your presentation. This outline should serve as a map for you to follow.
Be sure to fill in all pertinent details, examples, and citations so that when you start creating
your group’s presentation it will be easy to complete within the allotted time. This outline must
be complete and approved before your group works on the slideshow.

Instructions
Your group will create a presentation using credible evidence that engages your audience and
clearly explains/justifies your argument for your topic.
Slide 1 - Title Slide

Muslim Misconceptions

Slide 2 - Introduction Use your research questions to help guide you to your thesis statement
1. Grabber or captivating opening sentence (could be a restatement of your research
question): Muslims stereotypes are believed by people all across the world, and believing false
information about them and the religion that they believe in.

2. Background information about the topic: The media all over the world portrays Muslims as
things that they are not, hurting their reputation even when they are actually the opposite of that.

3. Thesis statement (one sentence; summarizes the main point or claim of an essay or
research paper- must include topic plus arguable point): Islam is a religion surrounded by
common misconceptions that are found throughout the world, and many of these claims prove
that these misconceptions are untrue and unreliable .

1. Background information on the topic: what does your audience need to know about your
topic to help them understand your argument?
● Religion based off understandings coming from Muhammed
● Muhammad believed to talk to angels sent from god
● 5 pillars of faith
● Muslims believe in their one and only god

● Many people don’t know that some people in that country are also terrorised.
● Many people believe that Muslims believe in terrorism, just from misconceptions.
● People started to believe that Muslims terrorized people in 9/11.

The most common stereotype with Muslims is thinking that they are all Arabs.

Slide 7 - Conclusion Summarize the research question/thesis statement


1. Discuss the larger significance (why is it important?) These misconceptions are
important, because they tell people what others think of Muslims.There are different
thoughts about Muslims but most of them are not true. The importance of these
misconceptions show others what is thought of and hated by others.
2. Reveal unanswered questions (if any) and tie up loose ends by restating the thesis
There are many things that people think about muslims, but as you can see most of
them are not true. Just because some of the bad people in our world happen to be muslims, it
does not mean they are all bad people.
