What can we learn from the life of

one teenager at a time!” Part one of a two part article

These were some of the life principles of Billy

Graham. These are some of the principles we try to
follow at Gateway. Our success should not be
measured in numbers, but in fruit. May our Lord
honor our work with spiritual fruit.

Sharing Christ with women in a crisis pregnancy since 1985 of life" — Billy Graham

Lee Strobel, Christian author and apologist, shares four thoughts:

► First, he had integrity. From the outset, Graham was determined
to sidestep the traps that had discredited some earlier evangelists.
He avoided aggressive fund-raising, loose financial accountability,
sexual temptations, emotionalism and anti-intellectualism. What’s
more, even before the Civil Rights movement, he insisted his rallies
be integrated, because racism violates the teachings of Jesus.

►Second, he was humble. Graham always saw himself as a servant of God, recognizing that it was the Holy Spirit, not
Graham, who was responsible for the evangelistic results.

►Third, he had compassion. Graham didn’t tell people about Christ simply because he loved the spotlight of a large
stadium, but because he loved God and he loved people.

►Fourth, he stood firmly for God. In a day of moral relativism.. Graham remained solidly anchored to God. He
frequently pointed to the Bible on his pulpit and said, “All the world’s answers are right here in this book.”
(This article will be continued in Gateway’s Life Times / Winter edition with a look at the origins of the modern evangelical
crisis pregnancy center movement, it’s purpose, and it’s early leaders, one of whom was Rev. Billy Graham!)

Amy, age 37 came to Gateway in 2004, having had
an abortion a year earlier. She refused to abort again.
She was referred by a Christian social worker known
to Gateway. She was unsure of her salvation. She
stated she had ‘one foot in the world and one in
church’, and was sure she wouldn’t go to heaven.
She stated that by having an abortion she made her
‘womb a tomb’. She didn’t commit to Christ but
was warned about putting off the decision.
