Walton County Local TRIUMPH Committee Meets;

Receives Updates on Projects and Strategic Plan
Process
The meeting began with Billy Williams, Walton County RESTORE Act Coordinator,
providing the Committee with several updates. Williams provided the Committee with an
overview of the projects that they had recommended to the BCC for approval to move
through the TRIUMPH Gulf Coast (TGC) process.
The Local Triumph Committee initially received, vetted and ranked 36 projects that were
submitted to the BCC for their direction. Of the 36 projects, 17 were given either an A or
B rating by the Committee, and were approved by the BCC to be submitted through the
TGC pre-application process.
Since that submission, TGC has approved 12 of the submitted projects, totaling
$95,593,125, to move to their full application phase. In addition, TGC approved three
additional projects that were not vetted through the Local Triumph Committee to move to
the full application phase.

Walton County Administrator Larry Jones stressed the importance of fostering partner-
ships, working together and the need to have elected officials, college administrators,
members of the business community and Committee members to be a part of all projects.
Following Mr. Williams updates, Triumph Gulf Coast Economic Advisor, Rick Harper,
presented the Committee with information regarding the current economic climate in the
United States and Florida as well as opportunities that exist within Walton County as they
relate to receiving Triumph funding. Harper pointed out in his presentation that a key
component that will help determine whether a project is funded by TGC would not
necessarily be the project itself, or cost of the project, but the full economic impact that a
project would have in the future. He stressed the importance of what a project would mean
for Walton County five and ten years from now, how many sustainable jobs will be
developed for the residents of Walton County.
Closing out the meeting, Mr. Austin Mount, Executive Director of the Northwest Florida
Planning Council, conducted a Strategic Plan Survey with the group and those in
attendance. ***Due to the numbers of residents that are travelling to Lakeland, FL to
support Paxton High School in the Basketball Playoffs, the meeting that was to be held at
Paxton High School on February 28th, has been rescheduled to March 14th.

Police say more deputies waited outside
school during Stoneman Douglas shooting
Instead of rushing in, several Broward sheriff’s deputies waited outside
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while a killer gunned down
schoolchildren, according to other officers on the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the claims from Coral Springs cops,
Sheriff Scott Israel told the South Florida Sun Sentinel last Friday.
The allegations emerged a day after another deputy, assigned to guard the
school, resigned under fire, also for failing to enter the building during the
shooting.
In all, at least three deputies waited outside, including School Resource
Officer Scot Peterson, police sources told the Sun Sentinel.
The allegations add to a series of failures that have come to light since
19-year-old shooter Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people and wounded 16.
Two additional deputies are being investigated over whether they
mishandled warnings about Cruz in the months before the shooting; the
FBI has admitted it failed to investigate similar claims; and the Florida
Department of Children & Families, which looked into concerns about
Cruz, concluded that he was no risk to himself or others. Coral Springs
Mayor Skip Campbell said the city wants answers to the allegations. If
proven true, “it not only makes me angry, it makes me furious,” he said.
Israel said three Coral Springs officers said one or more sheriff’s deputies
did not go into the school building when they should have, and their
concerns were relayed to the Sheriff’s Office by the Coral Springs police
chief. He said the Sheriff’s Office plans to interview the Coral Springs
officers who lodged the complaint.
“If our investigation shows that our deputies made no mistakes or did
things right, or it’s not corroborated, there will be no issue,” Israel said.
“If we find out, as we did with Peterson, that our deputies made mistakes
and didn’t go in, I’ll handle it like I always have. I’ll handle any
violations of policy or procedures or whatever accordingly.”
At a news conference, Israel said Peterson should have “went in.
Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.” Video footage showed Peterson
did none of that, Israel said. The sheriff did not say when the Coral
Springs police made their allegations. He did not bring it up at his
televised news conference.
“We will do an accurate, meticulous investigation,” Israel said.
Asked how he feels about such an accusation being leveled against his
deputies — by other cops no less — the sheriff did not say he was shaken
by the thought. “Being in police work as long as I have, I’ve seen
allegations that end up being accurate and allegations that end up being
inaccurate,” he said. “I don’t really have an opinion on allegations. I deal
with facts, not allegations. We’ll want to see where the facts are and we’ll
go from there.”
The Coral Springs city manager angrily confronted Israel the day after the
shooting about the deputies’ response, sources told the Sun Sentinel.
Late Friday, Coral Springs City Manager Mike Goodrum would say only:
“We had a heated discussion. But I’m not going to disclose the aspects
of the conversation and our agencies have a good working relationship.”
Citing the continuing investigation, Campbell said he wanted to make
sure the two police agencies continue to work well together.
In a statement late Friday, the Coral Springs Police Department said it
hasn’t officially commented about the allegations.
“Any actions or inactions that negatively affected the response will be
investigated thoroughly, and the information will be released officially,”
Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said in a statement. “There were
countless deputies and officers who responded on that How does any-

PA Radio Host: Trump Steel Tariffs Could 'Mean a
Lot' After Decades of 'Jobs Disappearing'
A Pennsylvania radio host praised President Trump's new steel trade policy, which enacted
tariffs on foreign imports of the material. However, he warned that the "nuances" of any new
trade policies should be fully examined by experts.
Harrisburg's R.J. Harris recounted the rich regional history of metallic manufacturing throughout
the Keystone State, saying that the new policy could be the shot in the arm the struggling
industry needs. Harris pointed out that manufacturing in once-bustling steel towns like
Pittsburgh, Steelton, Aliquippa and Bethlehem has slowed over the years.
"We've only seen jobs disappear [here]," he said.
Outside Harrisburg, Harris pointed to Reading's Carpenter Technologies, a metal manufacturer
where his brother once operated the blast furnace, as a place that could benefit from the
policy. He said the tariffs could also help workers at industrial giant Alcoa's local plant in
Lebanon. 100 miles to the east of there, the former site of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation now
houses a Sands Casino and other new venues surrounded by silenced blast furnaces and coke
works along the Lehigh River.
The defunct titan's 330-foot corporate skyscraper, Martin Tower, also sits vacant north of
downtown, with a debate ongoing about its future."This [tariff] sounds helpful, but again, we
don't know the nuances," Harris said. Harris also reacted to what effect the tariff and Trump's
other policies could have in the upcoming Congressional special election in southwestern
Pennsylvania.
Gowdy & Goodlatte Call for Special Counsel on FISA: Current
Probe 'Has No Jurisdiction' Over 24 Witnesses
Two top House Republicans repeated their call for a special counsel to look into alleged abuse of
the FISA process, in the way a warrant was granted to spy on a former Trump adviser based on
an unverified dossier with Russian sourcing.
Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, who chairs the oversight committee, and Bob Goodlatte of
Virginia, who chairs the judiciary committee, said Attorney General Jeff Sessions must appoint a
special counsel. The two men said they have faith in Justice Department Inspector General
Michael Horowitz to do a thorough job in the matter, but note that he doesn't have jurisdiction
over two dozen important witnesses.
Gowdy said the IG can compel testimony mostly from people who currently work in the
department. That rubric leaves out former FBI Director Jim Comey, outgoing Deputy Director
Andrew McCabe, Comey Chief of Staff James Rybicki, Clinton adviser Sid Blumenthal and
others. Goodlatte said the FISA court process was "abused" by the fact it granted permission to
spy on an American citizen, Carter Page, using "a very suspect source" - the dossier.
Bill Hemmer asked the pair why Congress couldn't investigate the matter. "We leak like sieves,"
Gowdy said. "[We've seen] far fewer leaks from Bob Mueller than [House Intel ranking member]
Adam Schiff." Hemmer however warned that special counsel investigations don't always end
where their beginning predicts. "You start with a land deal in Arkansas and you end up with a
blue dress," he said. Hemmer was referring to the Whitewater land probe, which ultimately led to
a perjury charge against President Bill Clinton. The president was caught in an extramarital affair
with intern Monica Lewinsky, who was wearing the blue dress.

HOW DO CIVIL WARS HAPPEN?

Two or more sides disagree on who runs the country. And they can’t settle the question through elections
because they don’t even agree that elections are how you decide who’s in charge.
That’s the basic issue here. Who decides who runs the country? When you hate each other but accept the
election results, you have a country. When you stop accepting election results, you have a countdown to a Civil
War.
The Mueller investigation is about removing President Trump from office and overturning the results of an
election. We all know that. But it’s not the first time they’ve done this. The first time a Conservative president
was elected this century, they said he didn’t really win. The Supreme Court gave him the election. There’s a
pattern here. That’s a Civil War.
There’s no shooting. At least not unless you count the attempt to kill a bunch of Republicans at a charity
baseball game practice. But the Leftists have rejected our system of government.

reject the results of elections that you don’t win, what you want is a dictatorship. Your very own dictatorship.
The only legitimate exercise of power in this country, according to Leftists, is their own. Whenever Conserva-
tives exercise power, it’s inherently illegitimate. The Leftists lost Congress. They lost the White House. So
what did they do? They began trying to run the country through Federal judges and bureaucrats. Every time that
a Federal judge issues an order saying that the President of the United States can’t scratch his own back without
his say so, that’s the Civil War.
Our system of government is based on the constitution, but that’s not the system that runs this country. The Left-
ists' system is that any part of government that it runs gets total and unlimited power over the country.
Donald Trump has caused the Shadow Government to come out of hiding: Leftists Professional government is a
guild. Like medieval guilds. You can’t serve in if you’re not a member. If you haven’t been indoctrinated into its
arcane rituals. If you aren’t in the club. And Trump isn’t in the club. He brought in a bunch of Americans who
aren’t in the club with him.
When a Leftists is in the White House, states aren’t even allowed to enforce immigration law. But when a
Conservative is in the White House, states can create their own immigration laws. Under Obama, with the Media
always having his back, a state wasn’t allowed to go to the bathroom without asking permission. But under
Trump, Jerry Brown can go around saying that California is an independent republic and sign treaties with other
countries.

But when Conservatives get into the White House, suddenly the President can’t do anything. He isn’t even allowed to undo the illegal alien amnesty that his predecessor
illegally invented. A Leftist in the White House has “discretion” to completely decide every aspect of immigration policy. A Conservative doesn’t even have the “discretion”
to reverse him. That’s how the game is played. That’s how our country is run. Sad but true, although the left hasn’t yet won that particular fight, they are 100% dedicated to
do so.
Whether it’s Federal or State, Executive, Legislative or Judiciary, the left moves power around to run the country. If it controls an institution, then that institution, Universi-
ties for example, is suddenly the supreme power in the land. This is what I call a moving dictatorship.
What do sure odds of the Leftists rejecting the next Conservative president really mean? It
means they don’t accept the results of any election that they don’t win. It means they don’t

This risk appears to crop up mainly during warmer weather, with the most marked effect occurring on
days with an average temperature of 86 degrees, "On cold days, there's not much of a difference."
"One of the reasons for this might be that when you have really freezing temperatures, most people
stay indoors and they're not really exposed to the outdoor temperature."
However, the study did not prove that big temperature changes can cause heart attacks, just that
there's an association. Colleagues suspected that temperature changes could be linked to heart attacks,
particularly given a large body of evidence linking cold weather to the highest risk.
Cold weather causes the blood vessels to constrict, restricting blood flow and making the heart pump
harder to maintain oxygen delivery throughout the body, according to the British Heart Foundation.

To further investigate this effect, the research team turned to a database that tracks all patients in
Michigan who undergo an emergency procedure to open blocked arteries during a heart attack.
The investigators found just over 30,400 heart attacks treated at 45 hospitals between 2010 and 2016.
They then referred to weather logs to find out the daily temperatures in each hospital's general area on
the day of the event.
Analysis revealed that swings of more than 45 degrees Fahrenheit were associated with a greater
increase in heart attack rates compared with swings of 18 to 45 degrees. A swing of more than 30
degrees Fahrenheit in a single day appears to cause a more than 10 percent increase in the proportion
of heart attacks that take place, compared to days when the temperature remains relatively stable, the
researchers reported. Such big temperature swings are rare.
Days with a more than 30-degree swing in temperature occurred only about 5 percent of the time
during the study, the researchers said. About half the time, temperatures changed between 10 and 20
degrees during the course of a day. There were more days in which the temperature swung from
warm to cold than the other way around. Given that, one potential explanation for the apparent
increased risk could be the effects of a sudden chill on the heart and blood vessels.
Global warming may affect this heart attack risk, but couldn't say whether it might help or hurt.
Overall, warmer days and nights could lead to a reduced difference between maximum and minimum
temperature, which would decrease the risk of heart attack. On the other hand, global warming might
cause an increase in extreme weather events featuring wildly fluctuating temperatures, which might
cause the risk to rise. Dr. Martha Gulati, division chief of cardiology for the University of Arizona-
Phoenix, called the study "very thought-provoking."
"We've seen lots of drama in our temperature fluctuations, both extreme cold and extreme heat, and
we see that more and more," Gulati said.
Researchers should consider looking farther back into the historical record, to see if they can uncover
similar effects on heart attack cases based on temperature changes in other places.

A Time To Kneel, Very Moving

Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. Hold a musket ball in
your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or
two. There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the
battle, so just wait your turn. Take your cleats and socks off to get a
real experience.
Then take a knee.
Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. From Khe San to
Saigon ... anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles.
There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew
what flag they represented. When they came home, they were
protested as well, and spit on for reasons only cowards know.
Then, take a knee on the beach in Normandy where man after
American man stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was
shot to pieces ... the very sea stained with American blood. The only
blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with
bullets from enemy fire.
Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110
degree heat .. Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress. Your number
won't be printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay
hydrated but there won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your
mouth. You're on your own.
No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans ... just American
men and women ... delivering the real fight against those who chose
to harm us ... blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a
knee." You haven't any inkling of what it took to get you where you
are ... but your "protest" is duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a
nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your
ingratitude for those who chose to defend you under that banner that
will still wave long after your jersey is retired.
While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not
on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce
every inch of ground taken ... but on nameless hills and bloodied
beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains .. every inch
marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.
There are a lot of places to take a knee where Americans have given
their lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which
they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the
memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That's
what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled
a sea of it defending your liberty.
If you really feel the need to take a knee, come with me to church on
Sunday and we'll both kneel before Almighty God. We'll thank Him
for preserving this country for as long as He has.
We'll beg forgiveness for our ingratitude for all He has provided us.
We'll appeal to Him for understanding and wisdom. We'll pray for
liberty and justice for all...because He is the one who provides those
things. But there will be no protest.
There will only be gratitude for His provision and a plea for His
continued grace and mercy on the land of the free and the home of the
