Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

Component 4a. Reflecting on teaching:



• I always try to think of what I can do better next time I teach a lesson and implement those changes.
• I write written reflections and talk with colleagues and my mentor to get feedback to improve my instruction.
• I reflect on my teaching by going through the CD framework process and utilizing the rubrics.

Component 4b. Maintaining Accurate Records


• I maintain records accurately and it is fully effective. I use both written record grade books and digital input for grades/
records.
• I keep and maintain student files throughout the year to support and justify grades given.
• Maintaining accurate records with field trips and fundraisers- both written and digital forms
• I maintain records for completed assignments on a student checklist.
• I keep an accurate record of non-instructional activities.
• I keep accurate records of formative assessments and observation notes.

Component 4c. Communicating With Families


• Attending Meet and Greet Night to establish initial relationships with students and families.
• I provide frequent, relevant information to families as necessary to keep them informed about the instructional programs
via e-mail or written/typed notes.
• I provide frequent, relevant information to families as necessary to keep them informed about individual students pro-
grams via e-mail or written/typed notes. However whenever possible it should be noted that I contact parents/guardians
directly with regards to an individual student either in-person conversations or over the phone.
• Attending Parent/Chaperone Informational Meeting to further develop relationships with chaperones and student fami-
lies attending BIST.

Component 4d. Participating in a Professional Community


• Relationships with my colleagues are founded on mutual support and cooperation.
• Actively participating in Wednesday Professional Development Meetings.
• I actively participate in a culture of professional inquiry, especially during PD days and data teams.
• I take initiative to volunteer to participate in school events such as: McTeacher Night, Kipapa Fun Fair, PTG Fall
Fundraiser pick up and Family Movie Night. I also participated in helping to plan/organize/contribute to the Big Island
Study Tour field trip, Brown Bag celebration, Ice Pop Fundraiser, Panda Express Fundraiser, Dave and Busters
Fundraiser, Fun Factory Fundraiser

Component 4e. Growing and Developing Professionally


• I seek out opportunities for professional development by attending workshops such as “Stepping Stones”, “GAFE Sum-
mit by Google” and “Anne Davies”
• I actively participate in Data teams and Wednesday Professional Development Meetings to develop myself as a teacher.
• I participate actively in assisting other colleagues in any way that I can. Whether it be showing another teacher how to
use technology in the classroom or by sharing resources and ideas.
• I meet up with a mentor so she can observe me. We often discuss ways to improve my teaching and she helps to give
me ideas of various things that I can do in the classroom.
• I am always open to feedback from colleagues, supervisors and my mentor.

Component 4f. Showing Professionalism


• I display high standards of honesty, integrity and confidentiality in interactions with colleagues, students and the public.
• I take an active role in serving students in any way that I can.
• I work to ensure that all students receive a fair opportunity to succeed. I will never give up on a student. I am always
willing to go the extra mile.
• I am open-minded and participate in grade-level decisions.
• I comply fully with school and district regulations.
