Standards
The transformers shall be designed, manufactured, and tested in accordance with the
applicable IEC standard.

Impedance
The transformer impedance shall be coordinated with the short circuit current of the
downstream systems and shall have proper short circuit power for motor starting. In any case
minimal impedance values shall be as per IEC 60076-5 Table 1.

Temperature Rise
The observable temperature rise of the transformer or parts thereof as determined by
resistance of the windings, shall be Class B (80°C) in accordance with IEC 60076-11 at rated
kVA on the tap connections that give the highest winding temperature rise, and the winding
hottest spot temperature shall not exceed the requirements of IEC 60076-12.

Short-Circuit Capability
The transformer short-circuit capability shall be in accordance the requirements of IEC 60076-5.

Core
The core of the transformer shall be constructed of the highest quality, non-aging, high-
permeability silicon steel especially suitable for the purpose. The steel shall be in thin
laminations, properly annealed after cutting to suitable size and rolled to ensure smooth
surfaces at the edges. Both sides of each sheet shall be insulated with a durable, heat-resistant
enamel or varnish, baked on. The core shall be carefully assembled and rigidly clamped to
ensure adequate mechanical.

Windings
Windings shall be class F, with temperature rise according to Class B.

Both primary and secondary windings shall be vacuum pressure impregnated. Each coil shall
be cast under vacuum to ensure complete and void-free resin impregnation throughout the
entire insulation system. The top of the sheet steel enclosure shall be solid.

Transformer windings shall be copper. Transformer connections shall be made using insulated
copper bus and bus supports.

Tap Changer
Terminal links shall be provided for changing high-voltage winding taps at no load. They shall
be accessible through a removable section in a panel.

Terminals
The transformer shall have each high-voltage and each low-voltage lead brought out to a
termination pad.

maintenance. All transformers shall have suitable provisions for lifting, jacking, and moving in
any direction, and the base construction shall be suitable for skidding.

The HV and LV terminations shall be at opposite ends of the transformer enclosure and shall
be accessed by separate, lockable doors. The HV door shall be fitted with an electrical
interlock, preventing the door from being opened when the MV fuse switch is closed.

Nameplate
The transformer shall be provided with 2 stainless steel nameplates in accordance with
Standards. One nameplate shall be mounted on the inside of the terminal cabinet door, and
the second nameplate shall be mounted on the transformer tank adjacent to the tap changer.
Nameplates shall in English and Spanish. Instruction plates, warning signs and any marking
on the equipment, parts and accessories shall be provided in appropriate locations and shall
be in English and Spanish.

The details to be shown on the nameplates and markings, and the material to be used, shall
be reviewed by the Employer.

Grounding Pads
Two grounding pads shall be provided for each transformer.

Winding Temperature Indicator/Relay (49T)
