1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this engineering specification is to provide designers and vendors
with the minimum technical requirements for the purchase, design, material
construction, inspection, testing, and shipping of Pulse–Width–Modulated (PWM)
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems for use in industrial installations
owned by PDVSA.
Since PDVSA has decided to adopt the PIP (Process Industry Practices)
documents: ELSAP04: “Pulse–Width–Modulated (PWM) Uninterruptible
Power Supply (UPS) Systems” and ELSAP04D: “Data Sheet for
Pulse–Width–Modulated (PWM) Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Systems” as an integral part of the Engineering Design Manual (MID).
