OBJECTIVES
Examine the significant events, people, and culture in early Egypt (3.a)
Apply the five themes of geography to describe Egyptians (2.c), Identify and describe different forms
of government (2.a), Describe the relationship among various groups (5.b)
ANTICIPATORY SET
TTW inquire about previous knowledge of Egypt and Nubia. “Where was Egypt located?” “Why was
it located there?” “What type of government do you believe ancient Egypt had?” “How did they live
and survive?” “What kind of job and home do you think they had, ect.?”
VOCABULARY
Cataract, delta, artisan, pharaoh, dynasty, bureaucracy, mummy, hieroglyphic, papyrus, pyramid,
sculpture, anatomy, commerce, ivory, interdependence, Merooitic Script, and ebony
INPUT
TTW use text, maps, dates, videos, and workbook pages to discuss the geography, history, actions
and customs of early civilizations.
TTW provide open and group discussion forums for comparison.
TTW present material in a clear and concise manner.
TTW guide the students and check for understanding periodically
TTW present a PowerPoint about life about various civilizations

GUIDED PRACTICE
TTW use text, maps, dates, and workbook pages to discuss the geography and history to take
students on a tour of Egypt.
TTW provide open and group discussion forums about Ancient Egypt.
TTW present material in a clear and concise manner.
TTW guide the students and check for understanding periodically.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Monday- TSW start defining their key terms
Tuesday- TSW read a story about key people in Egypt
Wednesday- TSW complete guided notes for Section 1
Thursday- TSW answer Section 1 assessment questions
Friday- TSW practice writing how the Egyptians wrote
Closure Homework
TSW will read articles, their textbooks, and
answer questions based on their readings. Study Key terms and notes. TSW finish what
they did not finish in class for homework.

CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING

TTW check for understanding periodically with open ended question, assessment questions at the
end of each section, from quizzes and from the chapter test.
