Awards categories

Service Awards

1. AGCAS Award for Employability


For improving the employability of students or graduates, or a specific group of students or
graduates, with demonstrable institutional-level impact.

2. AGCAS Award for Entrepreneurship


For effective provision of enterprise and entrepreneurship education, including engaging
students with business start-up and/or improving the entrepreneurial development of
students or graduates, or a specific group of students or graduates.

3. AGCAS Award for Research


For research that has contributed to the understanding of career development, graduate
recruitment, the graduate labour market or professional theory and/or practice in HE careers
or employability education, information, advice or guidance.

4. AGCAS Award for Technology


For innovative and effective use of technology in delivering or managing services and/or for
developing the digital literacy of students or graduates, or a specific group of students or
graduates.

5. AGCAS Award for Academic Engagement


For effective partnership with one or more institutional academic department(s), with the
ultimate aim of improving the employability of students or graduates, or a specific group of
students or graduates.

6. AGCAS Award for Employer Engagement


For effective partnership with one or more named employers and/or for engaging employers
of a particular type/sector with the work of careers and employability services, with the
ultimate aim of improving the employability of students or graduates, or a specific group of
students or graduates.

7. AGCAS Award for Student Engagement


For engaging students, or a specific group of students, with career planning and
employability.

8. AGCAS Award for Partnership with Professional Services (New for 2015)
For effective partnership with one or more institutional professional services department(s),
with the ultimate aim of improving the employability of students or graduates, or a specific
group of students or graduates.

1. AGCAS Outstanding Newcomer Award


For an outstanding initial contribution to the work of an AGCAS-member careers and
employability service (for AGCAS members of less than two years).

2. AGCAS Outstanding Impact Award


For an outstanding contribution to and impact on the work of an AGCAS-member careers
and employability service (for AGCAS members of more than two years).

3. AGCAS Significant Influence Award


For an outstanding and sustained contribution to the work of AGCAS over a number of
years.

Service Awards

1. AGCAS Award for Employability

Nominations are invited from:

 AGCAS member services, individual members of AGCAS or partnerships/groups of AGCAS


members/services who can demonstrate an effective strategy and practice for improving the
employability of students or graduates, or a specific group of students or graduates,
with demonstrable institutional-level impact

Judges will be looking for:

 Evidence of effectiveness and impact (6 points available to the judges);


 Evidence of positive feedback from the target group(s)/users (5 points available to the
judges);
 Evidence of creativity or an innovative approach (3 points available to the judges);
 Evidence of stakeholder engagement and/or collaboration (3 points available to the judges);
 Positive outcomes for stakeholders and/or the careers and employability service (3 points
available to the judges).

2. AGCAS Award for Entrepreneurship

Nominations are invited from:

 AGCAS member services, individual members of AGCAS or partnerships/groups of AGCAS


members/services who can demonstrate an effective strategy and practice for provision of

 AGCAS member services, individual members of AGCAS or partnerships/groups of AGCAS


members/services for research that has contributed to the understanding of career
development, graduate recruitment, the graduate labour market or professional theory

 A relevant topic (4 points available to the judges);


 Evidence of effectiveness and impact (4 points available to the judges);
 Evidence of robust methodology (4 points available to the judges);
 Evidence of effective dissemination (4 points available to the judges);
 Evidence of collaboration (2 points available to the judges);
 Positive outcomes for stakeholders and/or the careers and employability service (2 points
available to the judges).

4. AGCAS Award for Technology

Nominations are invited from:

 AGCAS member services, individual members of AGCAS or partnerships/groups of AGCAS


members/services who can demonstrate innovative and effective use of technology in
delivering or managing services and/or for developing the digital literacy of students or
graduates, or a specific group of students or graduates

Judges will be looking for:

 Evidence of effectiveness and impact (6 points available to the judges);


 Evidence of positive feedback from the target group(s)/users (5 points available to the
judges);

 Anyone who has been a Full or Affiliate Member of AGCAS for less than two years (at 1
May 2015) and who has worked in the nominating AGCAS member service for less than two
years (at 1 May 2015);
 Nominated by their head of service, line manager or colleague;
 Approved by their head of service (or, in the case of a nominated head of service, by their line
manager).

Judges will be looking for:

 Evidence of an outstanding initial contribution to the work of an AGCAS-member careers and


employability service (10 points available to the judges);
 Evidence of positive feedback from managers, colleagues, students, graduates, employers,
academics or other careers and employability service stakeholders (10 points available to the
judges).

Nominations are invited for:

 Anyone who has been a Full or Affiliate Member of AGCAS for more than two years (at 1
May 2015) and who has worked in the nominating AGCAS member service for more than two
years (at 1 May 2015);
 Nominated by their head of service, line manager or colleague;
 Approved by their head of service (or, in the case of a nominated head of service, by their line
manager).

 Evidence of an outstanding and sustained contribution to the work of AGCAS (10 points
available to the judges);
 Evidence of positive feedback from AGCAS members, employers, academics and/or other
AGCAS partners and stakeholders (10 points available to the judges).
