Lyric analysis- Catfish and the Bottlemen- Business

I wanna love you

But I've no time for your friends who can fucking do one
I've had a rough night- Here the singer is saying that he wants to properly love this person, the line
“your friends can fucking do one” shows that he cannot be bothered with her friends, he wants to
cut the chase and spend time with her.

Let's get drunk in your bedroom

And have a smoke in your window
Until you're urging I tear up your clothes –As established before, he’s “had a rough night” meaning
he just wants to spend time with her and have laugh by “getting drunk in her bedroom” and having a
“smoke in your window” which shows he just wants to relax, get drunk, get high just like he would
do with a friend. Then at the end of the night the “urge” is so strong that they strip down and have
sex which shows she is a release for him both mentally and physically.

And all I wanna know is just how far you wanna go- the singer is questioning how serious their
relationship is at this point, he’s not clear on how she sees the future.

I wanna make it my business

I wanna tolerate drunk you, honey
I wanna make it my problem- He’s making very bold claims at this point, as he says “I wanna make it
my business” which shows that he wants to understand every side of this person, evening beginning
tolerating them when she’s drunk knowing the fact that she is a very problematic person; he doesn’t
care whatsoever because she is all worth it to him.

Listen, I know that you said you'd be sleeping

Babe, it's been a rough night
Narcissistic but fuck it I'm calling
I need to know you're alright- Even though she has told him that she is going to sleep, he needs to
know that she is okay regardless that he knows it is wrong as he calls himself “narcissistic” but he
simply cannot leave his mind to wander, with him knowing he will be okay.

You see now I found a lover

Who can be in peace with my mother
And I ain't ever letting her go- This is just another contributing factor to them two getting together
seriously, its already proven that he likes her a lot, she also gets on with his mother really well which
can be difficult to find in relationships, hence he’s “never letting her go”

'Cause all I wanna know is just how far you wanna go

I wanna make it my business

I wanna tolerate drunk you, honey
I wanna make it my problem
I wanna make it my business
I wanna recognize drunk you, honey
I wanna make you my problem
I wanna make you my problem

If you've been having doubts at all

Then you can come and mess my bed up
And I can change your marital status
Alfie Millar

If you've been having doubts at all

If you've been having doubts at all
If you've been having doubts at all- he’s making it clear hear that if she’s ever concerned or doubting
anything she can simply come and see him and if its to just have sex or to re-establish that
commitment that they have they it’s okay be as he says he is ready for marriage.

I wanna make it my business

I wanna tolerate drunk you, honey
I wanna make it my problem
I wanna make it my business
I wanna recognize drunk you, honey
I wanna make it my problem
I wanna make it my problem
