SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS 2018

All participants must be registered members of the Recreation Department: for the June 1, 2018- May 31, 2019 fiscal year.
Residents: $24 Non-residents: $26
Program registration begins on March 26 for residents of RVC and April 2 for non-residents and is on-going until classes are filled. Membership card
may be purchased at same time. All registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

SUMMER PLAYGROUND Our 64th consecutive Summer Playground and Summer Rec Programs will be held this
year from Wednesday, June 27 through Wednesday, August 8, 2018, and will meet Monday through Friday from
9:00am to 12 noon. The program is conducted as a regular weekly program staffed by trained Recreation personnel. All
children in grades 1 - 7 (register your child for the grade he/she will be as of September 2018) are eligible to register for this
program. Daily activities include athletics, arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor recreational games and special events. Trips to
local places of interest will be planned to enhance weekly activities. These trips take place after regular program hours and
are optional (additional fee). Our 5,6 & 7 graders take weekly trips to Freeport Rec Pool, RVC Lanes.
Site choices: Wilson School and Recreation Center. The program is similar at both sites. There will be a shuttle bus
service to and from Hewitt School to the Wilson site.
Fee includes program fee, Rec. Membership and Trip T-shirt. Early Bird and Family Discounts available.
Note: $25 reduction for each additional child in same family– full summer only.
Registration begins on March 26 and is on-going at the Rec. Center office. Registration will be taken even after the program begins.

ULTIMATE GAMES CAMP for boys and girls in grades 1-8.

August 20 – 24 at the Recreation Center 9:00am – 1:00pm
FEE: $170 if paid by June 1; $190 after June 1; Daily rates and sibling discounts available.

Since 2007, the Ultimate Games Camp has provided local communities with a neighborhood camp. The
Ultimate Games Camp has been designed by physical education teachers based on the most popular games among each
age group!!! Each camp session consists of the “best games” put together in an exciting one-week program.

Our camp curriculum provides an opportunity for boys and girls of all skill levels going into 1st – 8th grade to participate in a
fun and safe environment! Campers will be divided based on their grade level.

GYMNASTICS SUPER SESSIONS advanced workouts in floor exercise, balance beam, vault and uneven bars

Intensive workout which will emphasize gymnastics skills and conditioning, designed for experienced gymnasts.

BASEBALL SCHOOL – under the direction of coach Bob Hirschfield

42nd Annual
“Regular Season” June 25 – June 29 and “Extra Innings” July 2 & 3
for boys ages 6-12 Barasch Field, Park Avenue, Rockville Centre. 9:00am – 1:00pm.
This daily instructional program will stress the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, fielding and base-running. Play-
ers will select and take part in daily position workshops, in addition to training in all aspects of baseball.
FEE: Regular Season $255 for residents and $280 for non-residents; Extra innings $95 res. and $100 non-res.

Fee includes Recreation membership card, T-shirt and insurance.

RVC REC. GYMNASTICS SCHOOL John A. Anderson Recreation Center gymnasium

Gymnastics training for girls in grades 2-8 @12:30-3:30pm for session 1 and 1:00-4:00pm for session 2
FEE: $180 residents / $195 non-residents for each 4-day session

Recreation Dept. staff will chaperone between Summer Playground program and Gymnastics School 1 for $4 per day.
Pre-registration for chaperone required before session begins.

RVC REC. GIRLS BASKETBALL SCHOOL at John A. Anderson Recreation Center gymnasium and courts

SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUES for boys’ and girls’ teams for grades 5 and up, as well as adult teams.
Information forms are available at the Recreation Center or email RecBball@rvcny.us or call 516-678-9238. League
games are played weekday evenings at Centennial Park. Strict deadlines apply, limited number of teams accepted.

TENNIS LESSONS
Group instruction offered at the Nancy Cottrell Tennis Courts, adjacent to the Recreation Center.
Participants must supply racquet and wear sneakers. Water bottle and sunscreen recommended!
