ASIA PACIFIC MIDDLE EAST

Our offices in Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam play an
important role in servicing our clients in this very important
market. Since our inaugural project in Indonesia, the Balongan-
Jakarta Product Pipeline for Pertamina (completed three months
ahead of schedule), we have been setting industry benchmarks.
Helios and Horizon in Singapore are just two of our landmark
tankage projects in the region.
The 45,000 m2 Sungaipurun equipment maintenance yard in
Indonesia services our large fleet of amphibian and construction
equipment and ensures quick mobilisation for the region.
Our operations in the Middle East span the UAE, Qatar, Oman,
Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Including the 48” dia gas export
pipeline in the dry deserts of Oman, Punj Lloyd has undertaken
numerous landmark projects in this region. Our maintenance
yard in Habshan, Abu Dhabi is spread over 25,300 m and
harnesses the fleet of equipment for the Middle East.
AFRICA
In our endeavour to expand horizons across the globe, we have
entered the oil and gas rich North African market. We are
executing our first order in Libya for pipeline projects on EPC
basis for Sirte Oil Company and intend to further strengthen
our presence in this continent.

CASPIAN SOUTH ASIA

Punj Lloyd has been an active player in Kazakhstan, Turkey
and Georgia in the Caspian region. We are the only Indian
contractor to have worked on the Turkish section of the
42” dia Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline project for Botas
and British Petroleum, popularly known as the Pipeline of
the Century.
Punj Lloyd enjoys an enviable position in the energy
transportation business and is the only contractor to be involved
in all three LNG terminals in India. It is involved in myriad EPC
projects such as wellhead and offshore platforms, large dia
cross country pipelines, refineries, cryogenic storage terminals,
civil construction and power projects.

We have also executed the crude oil KAM pipeline for
PetroKazakhstan, Large and Small Bore Pipeline for
Tengizchevroil, and the Oil & Gas Export Pipelines
for AGIP in Kashagan.
With its impeccable track record, Punj Lloyd has created a
niche for itself in the continent, exceeding customer expectations.
The 506 km, 42” dia Dahej-Vijaipur pipeline was completed in
a record 270 days, of which 60 days saw monsoon conditions.
Engineering work for the Motor Spirit Quality Upgradation
Plant for Haldia Refinery was completed within 8 months of
project award.

Seventeen countries, 225 projects. The success of our projects
worldwide demonstrates the exceptional project management,
multi-disciplinary and adaptability skills of our workforce. Our
people have worked hand in hand with the local strength and
adapted to their environments and cultures. This team spirit has
always contributed to precise co-ordination, motivation and
enthusiasm at project sites. At our project in Kazakhstan, the
Indian workforce learnt the local language on the job, instilling
a feeling of camaraderie among their coworkers. While the
workforce comprised 85 per cent Kazakhs and 15 per cent
Indians, both shared a strong bonding. In the Baku-Tbilisi-
Ceyhan (BTC) Georgia pipeline, 70 per cent of the workforce
were Georgian nationals and the rest of the skilled manpower
were Azeri, American, Bolivian, British, German, Indonesian,
Indian, Italian, Kiwi and Turkish. In BTC Turkey, there were
2,450 personnel from 10 countries. It is this adaptability of our
multicultural and skilled workforce that gives us the confidence
to win and execute projects. Crossing cultural barriers, our
diverse workforce speaks one language – that of attaining
common goals.

Technology Second to None
Our comprehensive portfolio and strong technology capabilities,
large fleet of construction equipment, and decades of
transnational project experience combine to seal our reputation

We embrace the latest technologies and innovative construction

methods like tank erection by the jacking system, mechanical
trenching, vacuum lifting, automatic welding and automatic
ultrasonic testing for pipelines. From project planning to design
to project management, we are equipped with the latest
application software, enhancing quality and service. Our
environment friendly and safe technology enhances the speed
of activities and reduces costs.

Risk assessment and job safety analysis are mandatory at every
site. Once the risks are identified, control measures are taken before
work commences. Continuous health and safety surveillance is
maintained with safety audits carried out at regular intervals. New
incumbents are taken through safety orientation programs, highlighting
hazard identification techniques and emergency procedures. Daily
toolbox talks at different sites are conducted. Monthly safety awards
are given for best practices to motivate staff and enhance involvement
and awareness.

Regular mock fire drills are conducted to ensure familiarity and reduce
response time, evaluate and implement areas for improvements.
Latest technology is adopted to minimise risk levels and human error,
including automatic welding which eliminates exposure to toxic smoke,
radiation and high heat.

The many awards and certification from our clients demonstrate their
appreciation of our commitment towards HSEQ. In an audit conducted
by TOTAL E&P Indonesie for high risk category, we achieved 85.7 per
cent rating among the contractors working for TOTAL in Indonesia.
Clients like Tengizchevroil/PFD International, Parsons Fluor Daniel
in Kazakhstan, and Petroleum Development Oman have conferred
honours for our high standards of HSEQ.

We have executed projects in undulating seabeds, dry deserts, rocky

mountains, rainforest and marshes. Protection of the environmental
wherever we operate is a given. Our staff is trained to consider the
environment impact of their work, and endeavour to operate without
causing any harm to nature. Measures are taken to reduce air and
noise pollution, soil and energy conservation practices are adopted.

At the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline project, a preliminary geological

survey identified the soil type, depth of topsoil, water table. During
construction, topsoil was removed and preserved on one side of the
ROW, subsoil on the other. Controlled blasting was done using
explosives in rocky areas and rock breakers were employed in rocky,
archaeologically sensitive areas. Special grading operations were
used in ecologically sensitive areas where topsoil was preserved within
geo-textile to keep the seeds and roots of endemic species intact.
Archaeologists, zoologists, botanists and other environmental specialists
supervised the clearing and grading activity to protect the flora.

impact, while achieving our business goals.
To this end, we undertake community development
activities worldwide. We are the First Corporate to fund
the Indo-US Corporate Initiative for HIV/AIDS. In Medicity,
a multi-specialty medical institute being constructed by
us in Gurgaon, India, we launched an HIV/AIDS
awareness campaign which aims to arrest the spread
of this deadly epidemic. HIV/AIDS prevention workshops
are an ongoing activity in our sites across the globe.
In India, we have improved the lives of residents in
Sitamarhi, a remote village in Uttar Pradesh. Dayawanti
Punj Model School, which started in 2003, currently has
800 students; in particular, scholarships help girls to
better their lives and future. In Madhya Pradesh, we
provide free healthcare for the under-privileged including
cardiac check-up, ENT and orthopedic treatment.
Whether it is participating in a marathon to gather funds
for a cause or through association with non-profit
organisations, we have taken many initiatives towards
community upliftment by supporting the underprivileged
and weaker sections of society. Leveraging on our
construction expertise, our people often provide project
management services in construction of village schools.
Community development is undertaken at every location
where we operate. We recruit and train locals,
empowering them with specialised skills and improving
their employment potential. In addition, we improve the
area’s basic infrastructure by constructing wells, roads,
improving drainage, providing water and electricity.
We provide regular health check-ups and counselling,
deploy ambulances to remote villages, and provide
assistance in emergencies.

Procurement
We have a global sourcing network which enables us to get
the lowest costs at the best available quality and range. We
source diverse materials for a variety of critical items such
as high-pressure fabricated equipment, large rotating
equipment, complete packages, skids, electrical and
instrumentation systems, tagged items and bulk material.
We source material for cross country pipelines, tankage,
refineries, power plants and offshore projects. Our web-based
real time control and reporting systems enable the construction
team to undertake effective and flexible construction scheduling.
Construction
Our greatest asset is our in-house construction management
capabilities. The execution of challenging projects world over
has given our personnel a rich and varied experience. Their
knowledge of advanced construction techniques enables
them to take on complex projects. That’s how we are among
the few companies who can lay large dia pipelines, handle
the rare combination of complete mechanical, civil and
insulation work on cryogenic tanks, and work in live refineries.

Process

Besides our experience in complicated projects such as Sulphur
Recovery, Vis-breaker, Crude Distillation, Hydrocracker, and
Vacuum Distillation in specialized process units in Refineries,
we have also handled Refinery Upgradation, Gas Gathering
and Processing Facilities, Gas Compressor Stations, Effluent
Treatment Plants, Re-gasification Units for LNG Import Terminals.
For the hydrocarbon and petrochemical industry, we have
undertaken equipment erection, pipe fabrication and installation
including special alloy piping, fabrication of steel structures,
electrical, instrumentation, painting, insulation and fireproofing.

Power
Punj Lloyd provides EPC services for the complete civil
construction and balance of power plant packages. It can
manage complex civil construction and develop optimum designs
for auxilliary packages like coal and ash handling, HVAC, water
systems, fire fighting systems, electrical and C&I.
To reduce project costs and ensure an efficient system, Punj
Lloyd offers its clients extremely competitive commercial solutions
that are technologically advanced.
Civil Infrastructure
We have provided Design, Engineering, Procurement and
Construction services in several civil infrastructure projects.
We have also constructed major highway projects, including
bridges, culverts, underpasses, flyovers and grade separators.
We have executed metro rail projects, including construction
of piles, substructures, overhead electric line masts and
metro stations.
Asset Management
Punj Lloyd’s Asset Management unit operates
and maintains client facilities in compliance with
international standards, enabling the client to
concentrate on their core areas of business. We
offer Industrial Operation and Maintenance (O&M),
Services Commissioning and Start-Up Services,
Safety Audit and Procedures Recommendation
Services, Quality Procedures Assessment, Audit
and Redefinition Services and Asset Preservation

Our Plant & Facility Management arm oversees

the preservation and maintenance of distressed
assets or plant and machinery under litigation. We
are equipped to ensure security, safety, preservation,
maintenance and readiness for commercial
operations. In addition, we are qualified for restart
and re-commissioning responsibilities, in accordance
with other stakeholders. In the event of an
environmental hazard, we provide clean-up services.

Telecom & Broadband

Punj Lloyd is India's second service provider and
the fourth in Asia to receive ISO certification. We
are pioneers in India’s broadband industry with the
first commissioned fibre optic network spread across
Delhi and the National Capital Region.

We have developed and deployed turnkey telecom

solutions of data, voice, and video networks,
including the design and implementation of high-
quality hybrid networks comprising optical fibre, co-
axial cable and microwave equipment.

The designed networks offer broadband IP (Internet

Protocol) internet access services, intra-corporate
VPN (Virtual Private Network), mission critical
information systems, cable TV services for digital
quality software, data centre services, and managed
optical fibre operation. We also undertake the design,
engineering and construction of copper and optical
fibre networks, microwave link engineering, and
installation, commissioning and testing of GSM
(Global System for Mobile Communications) and
CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) equipment.
