ABSTRACT
This technical report, explains the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES),
which was duly undertaken at Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited (referred to as

September 1st, 2016 in one (1) Sub - Product Service Line (SPSL):

The SIWES programme started with a New Hire Safety Training (NHST) programme and was
followed by the introduction to the company’s workshop, staff and core business. In the
Completions sub-department, work was done on different projects like: Make-up of different
sub-assemblies such as: Seal Assemblies for Packers, Nipple assemblies, TRSV assemblies,
Service Tools for stabbing into Packers, Gas Lift Mandrel assemblies, Muleshoe, Floatshoe and
Guideshoe assemblies, Disassembly and Redress of Service Tools, Quality Assurance and
Quality Control on Pup joints, Cross-overs, Safety Valves, Nipples, Gas Lift Mandrels and
Packers, pressure-testing of Control Lines, volume-testing of Nipples, Safety Valves, Gas Lift
Mandrels, and function-testing of Safety Valves, preparation of baskets for loadout of customer-
procured items and tools. The programme provided a good avenue to apply theoretical
knowledge such as: Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Machines, Torque, Moments and Couples,
Thermodynamics, English Language, etc to real life situations.
