Maam:

In line with the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) aim of enhancing the practice of Arts/ Theater for
Development and in forging partnerships with the local groups of Leyte, PETA through its PETA Lingap Sining Project,
partnered with selected groups in the Eastern Visayas Cultural Network to be able to sustain its advocacies on DRR and
Resiliency in the local level through workshops, performances and arts productions using various expression platforms
and modalities. The St. Scholastica Village Chapel Youth Choir was fortunate to have been chosen as one of the partners
of PETA and to be the recipient of the PETA Lingap Sining Cultural Partnership Grant. By virtue of said grant, the Choir
was tasked to stage a performance/ production using music, songs and poetry as platform for advocacy which will be
showcased in five different venues within the Municipality of Palo and in nearby places, with a target audience of at
least 1000 pax.

Selected members of the Choir, together with three talented students from the St. Therese Educational Foundation of
Tacloban, Inc., came up with the project dubbed as “Musika nga Kabataan, Tungo sa Katatagan” (Music of the Youth,
Geared Towards Resiliency), a show featuring original songs with live musical performances composed by our creative
and artistic team of young people who wants to effect change in society. In the process we were able to produce eight
songs revolving on the theme “Developing Resiliency Amidst Adversities”; with 1000 youth of Palo, Tacloban and Dulag
as our target audience; The songs range from topics like Climate Change, Environment, OFW’s, Adolescents Sexual
Reproductive Health, DRR, EJK, Drugs, Love- adversities which greatly affect the self, family and society. The choir
believes that all adversities that we encounter in our daily life, be it a strong typhoon, a destructive earthquake, EJK and
Drugs, or even just a simple heart break, may be overcome by using the right frame of mind and the right attitude. We
want to share this advocacy through our songs and music in order to influence the youth of Palo on how to become
resilient amidst the different challenges that may affect the self, family and the community and to inspire them to
become “ARTIVISTS” by using art as a means of effecting change.

In this regard, we would like to invite 100 youth or more from your School to watch our concert which will be staged at a
designated venue which you may deem best for the purpose, on January 13, 2018 at Two o’clock in the afternoon. After
the concert there will be a short interactive discussion and sharing of tips on singing and playing of musical instruments.
We further request that we be given assistance by letting us use your sound system, Projector and Screen and the
designated venue, and in providing us with the chairs that will be used by our team and the audience as well.

We are hoping for your full support and cooperation for the success of the “MUSIKA NG KABATAAN, TUNGO SA
KATATAGAN” PROJECT and future projects that the Choir or PETA may undertake.

Thank you and more power!

Sincerely yours,

GILES EDGAR B. DAYA
