Hot – applied Elastomeric Concrete Joint Sealant

Description A plasto-elastic bituminous rubber compound, which is heated to a flowing

consistency, suitable for the sealing of horizontal pavement joints.
Construction

Uses Igas-B is used to provide a flexible and long lasting seal in both, expansion and
construction joints for horizontal applications, such as :
„ Concrete roads and parking areas
„ Bridges
„ Concrete floor joints

Advantages Igas-B possesses the following beneficial properties:

„ Remains flexible at low temperatures
„ Easy to melt
„ Good weather resistance
„ Excellent adhesion to most materials
„ Good adhesion to concrete surface

Joint Configuration „ Minimum joint depth: 10 mm

„ Width : depth ratio for expansion joints: 1 : 1 to 1 : 1.5
„ Width : depth ratio for construction and contraction joints: 1 : 1 to 1 : 2.5

Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from all loosely adhering particles.
For best adhesion, it is recommended to prime the substrate using Sikaproof Primer

Heating Control temperature of heat transfer oil not higher than 240 oC and sealant not
higher than 180 oC
Melt Igas B together with wrapped plastic in the oil-jacketed melter.

Application „ Stir sealant homogeneously until thoroughly melted.

„ Pour melted sealant into prepared joints. (The melted sealant should be used
all in 2-3 hours)
„ Allow the poured sealant to dry and settle for 4 – 5 hours before opening the
traffic.

Cleaning Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Thinner C

Important Notes The material is flammable when overheated.

Safety Instruction
Safety Precaution Wear goggles and gloves during application. In contact with eyes, rinse

Remove to fresh air, seek medical advice and do not induce vomiting.
Remove immediately contaminated clothing after application. Wash hands before
breaks and after work with plenty of soap and water.
