Corso TP1002
I Theology Lecture Notes
These lecture notes are designed for students who attend the course TP 1002 “The Synoptic Gospels
and the Acts of the Apostles”.
These constitute neither a simple reproduction of lecture notes already made available in past years nor
a faithful preparation of “frontal lectures” held in this academic year. Their purpose is primarily to
provide support to personal study and reflection. Obviously, they can and should serve as a basis for
preparing for exams, with the caveat, however, that they must be understood and complemented by a
serious search for a personal and critical study of the literature made available in the bibliography.
Notwithstanding these provisions, in terms of both form and content, I willingly entrust these pages in
the hands of students, according to their desire, hoping to please those who want to delve into the Word
of God.
Last but not least, I would like to express heartfelt thanks to the students of the Pontifical North
American College—Briggs-Andrew Hurley, Augustin Martinez-Delgado, Stephen Gadberry, and
John Wilson—for having offered to translate these lecture notes in order to serve the students of the
English language. May God repay them!

Selected Bibliography
The bibliography pertaining to the New Testament in general, and the Synoptics in particular, is immense. The
following titles have been selected, in order to give an illustration of the seriousness of the studies, the purpose of the
course, and the various areas of cultural origin. For a more fundamental bibliography that is both plentiful and updated,
