THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC CONFERENCE KEDAH (iBecK2018)


The Faculty of Business and Management of UiTM Kedah Branch has taken the initiative to hold The International Business and Economics Conference Kedah 2018
(iBecK2018) with the theme of “Striving for Sustainability and Innovation Capabilities”. iBecK 2018 is organized for the first time as it is in line with the aspirations of UiTM
Kedah Branch to be an active institution in organizing research, publication and commercialization globally. The iBecK 2018 is hosted by the Faculty of Business and
Administrations, UiTM Kedah Branch and it will be held on the 1st March 2018 at Tabung Haji Hotel, Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia. The iBecK 2018 welcomes local and
international academicians, researchers, policy makers, industry players and professionals from both public and private sector to participate, exchange ideas and share
knowledge in the conference, with hope it will benefit diverse demographics in the business and economics fields. In recognition of the results of the research efforts,
submitted articles will go through a peer review process and will be valued accordingly to the body of knowledge, methodology, potential interest to academicians publics
according to the themes that have been regulated which then a small number of articles will be awarded as ‘Best Paper’ and accepted papers will have the opportunity
to be published in reliable journals.

FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT (FPP)


The Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) was established since the formation of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kedah Branch in November 1997. The
flagship program is Diploma in Business Studies (DBS). Basically, there are wide ranges of disciplines offered under Faculty of Business and Management under the
whole system of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Specifically, FBM UiTM Kedah Branch offers three diploma and seven degree programs such as:

• Diploma in Business Studies,


• Diploma in Banking Studies,
• Diploma in Office Management and Technology,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Marketing,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) International Business,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Human Resource Management,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Operations Management,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Finance,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Islamic Banking,
• Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) Economics

The FBM was formed to produce graduate and professionals in the field of business and management in line with Malaysia’s aspirations to increase expertise in this
dynamic and competitive field. Today, the FBM is proud to announce that the faculty has consistently produced thousands of graduates and will keep the persistency
on. Currently, most of our proud alumni serve both public and private sector either in Malaysia and the rest of the world. Nevertheless, some of our alumni embark as
entrepreneur because FBM of UiTM Kedah Branch encourages our graduates to be independent and develop employer-ability capability to face ever competitive and
dynamic labour market.

UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA (UiTM) KEDAH BRANCH, MALAYSIA


The Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kedah Branch was officiated on 1st October 1997 and started its operation in November 1997 by offering four programmes at
diploma level with 162 students and 25 administrative staff. The campus spread across 350 acres ground in the Mukim Bujang which is approximately 14 kilometres
from Sungai Petani, Kedah. In consistent with the government’s objective and aspirations to develop the skills of Bumiputra in various fields, the university functions as
a catalyst in developing the economic and education of Malaysians, especially locals in the state of Kedah and northern region. Today, UiTM Kedah Branch offers both
diploma and degree courses across seven faculties such as:

• Faculty of Accounting
• Faculty of Art and Design
• Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Science
• Faculty of Information Management
• Faculty of Law

STATE OF KEDAH
Kedah Darul Aman is one of unique state that is located in the northwest corner of Malaysia. Kedah borders the state of Perlis, Penang, Perak and also
Thailand. The state’s capital and administration is located at Alor Setar and the constitutional ruler of the state is the Sultan of Kedah who resides in Anak Bukit.
Kedah which also known as the rice bowl of Malaysia, covers around 9000 square kilometres including mainland and 104 islands, where the most famous island is
Langkawi. Gunung Jerai is the state highest peak at 1200 meters above sea level. The people of Kedah are known as Kedahan with Pelat Utagha dialect, where they
consist of relatively heterogeneous populations constituted of the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Malaysian Siamese and others. The population surpass two millions
people and keep rising. The modern Kedah is divided into 12 administrative districts and further divided into administrative Municipal Councils. The economics
activities of the state range from mass paddy plantation, fishing, tourism, real estates, automotive and aerospace industries. The history of Kedah started as
early as 1st Century AD where the latest discovery in the Bujang Valley where UiTM Kedah Branch is located, has made the ancient Kedah the oldest civilisation of
Southeast Asia.

Salam UiTM Dihatiku..

I wish to extend my heartiest congratulation to the Faculty of Business & Management of UiTM Kedah Branch for the
successful organization of The International Business and Economic Conference Kedah (iBecK) 2018. This
conference has marked yet another milestone for UiTM Kedah Branch as an intellectual hub at which stimulating
creative and prolific academic presentations and discussions take place.

It is indeed very encouraging to see UiTM Kedah Branch forging ties with international universities and academic bodies to further strengthen itself in the aspects of
research and innovation. With the theme “Striving for Sustainability and Innovation Capabilities”, iBecK 2018 promises a wider scope of knowledge area and serves to
bring a broad set of perspectives to the research arena in business and economics.

Thus, this conference is a platform to bring together academicians and professionals who are interested in mobilising innovative and creative local and global practices
in business and economics for a sustainable academic environment. Hopefully, our valued participants and presenters will not be only gaining new ideas from others
but they will take it as an opportunity to share their experience, ideas and expertise as to make this conference an enriching as well as fulfilling experience for everyone.
Lastly, to all secretariats, participants and presenters, without your participation and commitment, this conference would not have been possible. I would like to take this

Alhamdulillah, and all the prayers to Allah S.W.T for giving us the chance to be a part of this great event. A greatest thank to all the secretariat of The International
Business and Economic Conference Kedah (iBecK) 2018, Faculty of Business & Management of UiTM Kedah Branch for their continuous effort and support towards this
meaningful academic rendezvous. Their dedication and commitment have enabled this programme to finally reach its heyday that is on today.

iBecK 2018 means to provide a platform for local and international participants to meet and exchange ideas through an academic network that celebrates intellectuality
and passion for research. A highest appreciation goes to all of you, our distinguished participants and presenters who have come all the way from every corner of the
world united in the common interest and goal of promoting universal respect for knowledge innovation, sharing and collaboration.

In addition, iBecK 2018 is served to improve our capabilities, strengths and fortes in challenging the world of impediment and uncertainty. Learning is a lifelong process,
hence along the way, each of us need to set a goal to reach the acme of education.

Dear iBecK Participants,

On behalf of Universiti Teknologi MARA Kedah and the iBecK Host Committee, we welcome you whole heartedly to iBecK 2018 in Alor Setar Kedah, Malaysia.

We congratulate you on continuing your professional development, and we are glad that you have chosen to attend this conference. The conference’s theme “Striving for
sustainability and Innovation Capabilities” challenges us to consider our role in shaping the future of our professions and reminds us on the impact that we have on our
stakeholders whom we work with every day. The conference aims to explore the concepts of sustainability and innovation that are needed as we are moving towards
the era of Industry 4.0. Thus, we bring to you two dynamic speakers on Big Data which revolutionizes how we derived to achieve sustainable and innovative intelligent
decisions.

You will have both formal and informal learning opportunities through participating in interest sessions, strengthening your professional network, learning about new
approaches in research, or getting involved with linkages that could extend beyond this conference. We also hope that you will have an opportunity to enjoy the pleasant
surroundings of Kedah also known by its honorific Darul Aman or “Abode of Peace”.

Finally, as Program Committee chair, I would like to publicly thank the members of the program committee. I truly HEART them for their hard work and commitment. This
group made my role much easier and made the program a smooth and seamless process. It has been a privilege to work with them. Additionally, thank you to TH Hotel

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Prof. Adjunct Nordin bin Othman is currently Company Director, Chief Technical Officer and System Architect for SD1
Vision Sdn. Bhd. He has over 40 years’ experience in the ICT Industry, held the post of Partner and Senior
Manager with two fundamental IT management firms and IT System Integrator namely Mercatela (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Sapura
Advance System respectively. Prior to that, he has been serving the government as the Director of Agriculture in Labuan
between 1984 until 1989 under jurisdiction of Prime Minister’s Department (Pembangunan Wilayah). He has multi-discipline
knowledge and skills whereby he is trained in vocational education previously and an expert in strategic systems thinking
that he acquired from his past exposure while serving as Development Officer in the Work Bank Projects from 1973 to 1983.

He graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Bachelor Science in Agriculture and
Government from Sam Houston State University (SHSU), Texas University. He also holds graduate degree in Master
of Science and Agriculture and Vocational Education and Master of Arts in Government (Development Policy Problems)
from SHSU. Additionally, he qualified by training in SHSU and a certified practitioner by the State of Texas, USA in animal
technology, animal breeding and artificial insemination.

He was Adjunct Professor in Rainforest Knowledge Academy, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 2000 to 2003. His field of specialization is in System Dynamics,
Policy Simulations, and Strategy Formulation and Planning. He also has the experience as Consultant (1989 – 1993) to British Gas, Enron Oil and Petronas in strategy
and systems study. He was also the Consultant Advisor in architecture and development of Computer-Based Training (CBT) Software and System. He was responsible
as Account Advisor in development of the CBT on C120 Hercules Transport Aircraft First-Level Maintenance Diagnostic Application and System for the Royal Malaysia
Air Force (TUDM).

While working under Sapura Holdings Berhad and in Sapura Advanced Systems (SAS) Sdn. Bhd, he was the project director and responsible in the negotiation with
the Russians as supplier of the MiG 29 Jet Fighter plane to the Government of Malaysia’s and Canadian CAS, a technology vendor in aircraft simulator in design,
development, delivery, deployment and maintenance of the one and only in the world MiG29 Flight Trainer Simulator and a Full Mission MiG29 Simulator that deploy
full emersion virtual reality technology in simulator design and development. Under SAS he was elected as Sapura’s resident experts and extended ICT Consultancy
Services to the Government of Malaysia (GOM) and provide thought leadership as among of the appointed “Nation’s Web Shapers” under the coordination of MAMPU
and the Prime Minister’s Office in strategizing the planning of the Malaysia Multimedia Super-Corridor (MSC).

He was also attached to INTAN (at Jalan Ilmu, Kuala Lumpur) from 1994 to 2001 while under SAS Sdn. Bhd., as the architect and programmer in developing CBT system
dynamics technology-based simulator and conduct simulation-based sessions as instructor to Government Senior Officers including the Ketua Setiausaha Negara (KSN)
– in awareness training on the potential impacts of ICT in “Reinventing Government” under Electronic. He was also a panel member of the ICT Expert Group formed by
the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) for 15 years from 1995. His last position was held as co-founder Zetta Consultants Sdn. Bhd. with responsibility as Senior
Consultant in providing systems development consultancy services and strategic study to MAMPU and other Government Agencies.

WORKSHOP SPEAKER
Dr. Shukor Sanim Mohd Fauzi, PhD, serves as a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences,
Universiti Teknologi MARA, Perlis Branch, Malaysia. He received Diploma in Computer Science and Bachelor Science (Hons)
specializing in Information Systems Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Master of Science (Computer
Science - Real Time Software Engineering) from the Centre for Advanced Software Engineering, Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia. He then obtained his PhD in Software Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia
and in the working group of Data 61 (formely known as Software Systems Research Group), Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) which is based at the National ICT Research Centre Australia (NICTA), Australian
Technology Park (ATP).

His area of specialization includes software engineering, empirical software engineering, mining software repository, social
network analysis, socio-technical congruence, computer supportive collaborative work, and software process. As an active
researcher, he has received more than ten research grants (internal and external grants) and has published more than 70
scientific publications, and won more than 40 medals at national and international exhibition. He also is the editor for 3 books
including “Software Process Improvement and Magament: Approaches and Tools for Practical Development”.

He received several recognitions, including Ahli Akademik Harapan Award 2017 (Most Promosing Academician Award 2017), Anugerah Penyelidik Terbaik (Best
Researcher Award) (Science and Technology) 2017, Anugerah Penulis Terbaik 2017 (Best Writer Award 2017), Anugerah Kualiti Naib Canselor 2017(Vice Chancellor
Quality Award 2017), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) Research Project Award Australia (CSIRO/NICTA, Australia - 2010),
Fellowship Award from Asia Pacific Networking (Philippine - 2006), Most Active Member Award (Malaysia - 2008), Excellence Service Award (UiTM - 2008), Most Active
Researcher Award (UiTM – 2008), Most Active Author Award (UiTM - 2008), Most Active Author Award (UiTM - 2009), Usaha Bakti Award (UiTM – 2009).

He actively participated in many international conferences as a reviewer and Technical Programme Committee, and also a reviewer for national and international
journals. In professional activity, he involved in Technical Committee Software Engineering for Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM),
Malaysia Software Engineering Interest Group (MySEIG) and, Big Data Malaysia Group, and also is a Chairman of Northern Region Big Data Research Group. He has
been versely invited as a panel for innovation exhibition by numerous institutions - including Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, University Malaya,
Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universitas Ubudiyah, Indonesia and Universiti
Teknologi MARA
