Lesson plan:
Level: first grade (elementary) ESL.

Objective:

To recognize the vocabulary words in the listening.

Warm-up:

Show students a delicious sandwich. Ask them if want one of it.

Pre-listening:

1. Show a list of real ingredients (important vocabulary for the song), a peanut, grapes, bread,
peanut butter and grape jelly.
2. Explain how to make a peanut butter, first you take the peanuts and you crunch’em, and then
take some grapes, and you squish ‘em, and that is how you made grape jelly. Next take a
piece of bread, take some peanut butter and spread it, take some jelly and spread it, take
another piece of bread and putting on top, and finally you it the sandwich.
3. Teach students some movements. Shake hands on the air (top and down).

While-listening:

1. Teacher plays the song for the first time and sing along with doing the movements.

2. Teacher plays the song for the second time and students sing the song, doing the movements.

After-listening:

1. Teacher gives students the transcript of the song, but some words are missing (gaps).
2. Students have to complete the gaps with the missing words.
