provide diversity of background and work experience to the bench. Lastly, I wish to continue my public
service as an experienced judge.

15. What are the most pressing issues facing the justice system and why?

The most pressing issues facing the justice system are bail reform, providing care to those in our jail who
suffer from mental illness and making sure there is access to justice for all. Society is best served when
we can assist our citizens toward productivity whenever possible.

16. How will your experiences help you serve as a good judge?

I understand the law as well as people. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago in a low-income
environment and ascending to a Cook County judgeship gives me a wide perspective into anyone standing
before me. I am genuine, grounded and experienced and I rule with fairness and integrity. I look at the
whole person not just the charges. I believe in giving chances and rehabilitation when applicable but
understand that sometimes incarceration is the only option.

17. What do you wish voters knew about you?

I treat others the way I want to be treated, with fairness, compassion and integrity. I make a point to listen
and hear all parties. I have a firm friendly demeanor that means business. Lastly, I am determined,
dedicated, fighter and defender of justice.
