FIFTY FIVE FOR FUN Cello Solo Arranged by Geoff Hyde A Collection of Attractive Easy Tunes Fentone F758 PREFACE The tunes in this book have been selected to provide enjoyment for beginner and carly grade cellists and an incentive to practise between and after examinations, The pieces are arranged progressively to gradu- ally introduce various technical aspects of Cello playing in different time and Key signatures. These include bowing crotchets and minims, quavers, rests slurs, syncopation, repeat signs, dotted rhythms, simple left hand extensions, tied notes, compound time signatures and basic fourth-position work. These include bowing, syncopation, dotted rhythms, simple left hand extensions and culminate in some basic fourth-position work. Chord symbols have been provided in order that a keyboard accompaniment can be added if desired. Geoff Hyde qualified from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London in 1985. He has worked for some years at the Northamptonshire Music Service as a peripatetic Cello and Double Bass teacher and also coaches the Cello sections in two Youth Orchestras. He plays in a string quartet and is Principal Cello in the Northampton Chamber Orchestra.
